Both are nice, but I like the scrappy one the best. It shows off the design a bit more.

Looking back at your picture I see beauty and richness in # 2 and beauty and kayos in # 1

Do you want to "use up scraps" ? If so then the scrappy look is the way to go. If you don't mind purchasing fabrics or using up yardage the "matching colours" is beautiful too.

In my heart, I feel like I should like the scrappy blocks the best. But the reality is, I LOVE the same color blocks. Guess I'm just not much of a risk taker.
