I think it is just beautiful and very colorful

It's very pretty but maybe for an older child. I still love the soft pastels for a baby.

You said a "fairly new granddaughter" if that is the case & she is a baby then I think maybe paler, pastel colours would have been better. Having said that though, I think the quilt is very pretty just not one that I would do for a baby, if in fact she is that young. IMHO

I think this quilt is more adult looking and would work beautifully as a wallhanging or accessory in a living area. And then you could do a pastel for the little one.
