I know this pink/rose color does not look good for my third color. I had a brown with music on it and that totally washed out the white. I was thinking maybe something bright or flourescent. This is for my 12 year old grandson, so nothing girly. Maybe a solid color?
I would probably go with the orange in the black fabric.
how about orange or the blue of the music notes.
I also like the idea of the orange.
One of the bright colors in the music note--orange, yellow, green, turquoise.
Honestly I love the quilt  However, a 12 yr. old boy might have a problem with rose. I would show him the quilt and ask him what color for the binding. There is no sense in giving this to him if he thinks the rose is too girly and his mother makes him use it. Please let me know what you decide

I think the yellow thats in the black would work very well.
I would try and match the green that is in the fabric...not too bright in shade. If not 'loud' it would make the star shine. It is a nice star.
I think the orange and gold in the notes fabric are pretty predominant so I would want to mix in one more color that would stand out against them and I think blue for a boy is pretty predictable so I would use the green. I would also consider some piano keys in one of the borders. Great music quilt! What instrument does he play?
How about orange or red.
I like the bright orange or the blue color instead of the rose.

Yellow and black with white are always beautiful.
I just asked my 19 yr old son, his suggestion was the bright green from the notes.

Can you ask him which color he likes in the block??? Orange to me would look Halloweenish but maybe he would like it or another color in it.
Really nice block!!!!!!!! :D |
How about using an orange and a blue and alternate the blocks. Those are complementary colors.
My grandson plays the piano and the trombone. Should I use a light color so the black stands out?.... or something bold?
I definitely plan on piano keys for the border. Michael plays the piano and the trombone. I could use several different colors. I think I'm going to end up with about a 5 blocks by 7 blocks with sashing and a border. I think that should end up as a twin size.
Thanks for all the input. |

I was thinking orange
Orange or yellow would be a good choice. It picks up the colors in the musical pieces.
I like that bright blue or the green. Maybe a blender type or solid.
I would go with lime or yellow - my grandson's colors
That would be my choice as well.

i think i would go with the bright orange... or the bright blue..
that is what my eye was drawn to... |
I'm thinking orange or pick one of the brights that are in the notes and go plain with it.
I would pick up one of the colors in the black. Maybe the orange, gold or bright blue? Try auditioning it on each of the potentials to see what pops best. Can't wait to see the finished project.

I'd go with the green in the black fabric and definitely think about the piano border.
I'd use the blue or green from the block. Very pretty!

It needs a medium color. You have dark and light, now a medium. That is why the pink is showing off your other parts.
So you are on the right track. I love auditioning fabrics. |
I love the pink you have in the back ground. Where did you buy it at? What about a blue? That would be pretty and for a boy.

My first thought was orange, then I thought you can use a variety of backgrounds that are in that black fabric, blue, green, yellow, and orange and sash it with black. He should be proud of it.
I agree with the orange, take it with to the store, you may be surprised on what you like.
I'd go with orange or green :)
