OSU Buckeye Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I made this quilt for my husband for our 41st wedding anniversary. I have never posted a picture on here before. Hope I can do it. It took me about 3 months to make this quilt. It is a combination of patchwork and machine embroidery. It is a queen size for his computer/music room. I did the quilting myself (stitch in the ditch). When I was done with it I vowed to never try to do another queen sized on my machine. It was a chore. Hope you like it.

Thanks....I have been on this board for quite a few years and look at all of the beautiful work that is done by everyone. I am a self taught quilter. I have learned by watching videos, reading books and watching quilting shows on tv. I had an owner of a local quilt shop here in Mount Vernon, Ohio tell me that I really needed to take a beginning quilt class. I worked for over 20 years at our local walmart and I used to tell my customers not to stress over their quilts. The whole idea is to have fun with what you are doing. If you stress out over it, it ruins the whole purpose of sewing. I no longer work for Walmart (thank God), and am now working at Pat Catan's. It is a craft store. Most people have not heard of it. The manager and my fellow workers are absolutely wonderful. I am working part time there and have absolutely no stress which is more than I can say working for Walmart. I finished the last 4 1/2 years working in fabrics and crafts. I have read all of the complaints about the fabric department and I can appreciate their comments, but to work in our shoes, it was unbearable. So glad to be out of there. Thanks for listening

Your quilt is beautiful. I too once worked for Wal mart back in the days. Sending you a pm.

That is a lovely quilt for Hubby, and love that it looks like stained glass. Thanks for sharing. Mary

In case anyone would be interested in buying the pattern it is from mountain peek creations. Their number is 1-888-5922. The pattern picture shows flowered material. Our other local quilt shop had us retrofit it with the buckeye material and I added the embroidery to the larger squares. It is called City Blocks pattern #275

I am not into sports, but that is one classy looking quilt. Nice work!
|
Love this quilt.
A word of warning - I made a dresser topper for my grandson using OSU fabric. They set a cool air vaporizer on it, and the mist made the red run into the white. I usually prewash everything, but this was such a small piece that I'm not sure if I did prewash. At any rate - be careful when you wash it. |
Nicely done!
|
Love that quit.....very pretty......the pillow cases are a nice addition also
|
That is a great quilt! Were you able to buy the embroidery design of the university? If so where?
|
It came out great!
|
Great quilt, I'm sure he loves it.

Absolutely LOVE it. I've been holding off 'cause I couldn't find a pattern that I liked well enough to use with OSU on it somewhere. This would work GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. We have OSU things on my walker, and the seat is covered with fabric. We get lots of comments. It has a horn; I blew (tooted) it once in Walmart behind some woman that was driving me nuts and I THINK she wet her pants. Thanks.
