Outside my comfort zone!
1 Attachment(s)
My daughter fell in love with this quilt kit, and it was out of my comfort zone, but I'm happy with the outcome so far! Might need an idea or two on how to quilt it.

Fabulous use of striped fabrics. Are these Kaffe Fasset fabrics? this looks like something he would come up with. I love it.
Amazing, now you are a pro!
Wow that is so very beautiful.
Very neat! Are those triangles cut from striped fabric or did you have to piece them?
very pretty you did a great job!!!
Simply wonderful.
OMG, YUM!!! You've done a gorgeous job!
I've saved a bunch of quilt pictures like this one, think they are from the same designer but really no longer remember. They are SO appealing to my eye....and your daughter's apparently! Can't wait to make one with colors as you've chosen because they are so HAPPY!! Jan in VA |
Beautiful! I absolutely love it! You did such a nice job on it. Your DD is very lucky to have a Mom like you! What was the name of the kit?
Wow ....... just Wow! It is beautiful! Never thought I would like something like this but I sure do!!!
Oh My That is beautiful can't wait to see it quilted!!
Your quilt is beautiful. Very nice work. I really want to see the answers to everyone"s questions, I would ask the same ones. I would love to make one like it sometime.
Love the colors and you've done a super job!

Simply beautiful!
I love this !!!
Absolutely Fantastic!!!
It's an Aardvark Quilts pattern called Stripes Squared. Yes these are triangles from striped fabric. I used a Steady Betty to iron and sew, so they didn't get stretched funny. I do like it! Darks and lights put together to make a 3D look.
PLEASE GIVE INPUT FOR THE QUILTING! I am at a loss for how it should be done. |
I love it!! The more I look at it the more it "plays" with my eyes. Lovely.
Awesome. I love all the color and motion in this. Your DD will love it I'm sure.
Just curious as to why this is out of your comfort zone? I am always interested about how we start to try different things and are you now more open to doing more "uncomfortable" projects? What is your usual style and how far out of CZ is it? There are lots of quilty things I don't do but want to. peace |
I absolutely love this! It always gives me a beveled illusion look! That is my story and I'm sticking to it. I always think of beveled glass and mirrors when I see this pattern!
Your quilt is really beautiful. I looked on Pinterest and did a search for Kaffe Fassett quilts to get ideas on how to quilt it, but I don't know how to post a picture from there to here! There was one that was similar to yours that was quilted very simply in the ditch. Others had swirls quilted. Both styles looked wonderful. Your quilt will look stunning no matter what type of quilting you do.
Love it! Teri, for quilting I'd be putting some wandering feather design in (like this... http://www.annebright.com/shop/produ...-feathers-b2b/). I suspect you won't see much other than texture, and I'd want to do something curvy to soften all of the lines.
Or this ... http://www.annebright.com/shop/product/cock-s-comb-b2b/ - one feather frond in each quarter of a square. Either of these should freehand fairly well. (No affiliation with Ann Bright, just a fan!) |

I love this quilt! I have a bundle of fat quarters that I'm saving until I can find just the right quilt to make out of it. You did a great job!
It makes my eyes clap together. Beautiful colors.
I too think that some curvy quilting would be good. The quilting will probably be hard to see but something curvy will be a nice contrast with the lines.
OMG, this is the best striped fabric quilt I have ever seen. Love, love, love, all the color in this!
I saw a quilt similar to this and it was quilted in circles. HTH

Stunning. Each time I blink my eyes I see a different pattern. Wonderful job.
Beautiful quilt!! I would quilt it with spirals of different sizes or one very large circle spiral over the entire quilt. I like circular/spirals on strong straight line geometric quilts like yours.
Oh my gosh!! That is so cool!!!!!!!
WOW I love this quilt! I would use monfilament thread to quilt it, but I'm not sure of the design. Love to see what you come up with.
Wow! Beautiful work.
Awesome. So lovely and bright. Great job
So bright and colorful! Great job!
I can see why she loves it. What fascinating secondary squares. She has good taste and you get badge of honor for tackling it for her. I bet it was a challenge to look at while working on it. Wow! I just keep looking it again and again. I like it more and more.
I love this quilt and would hate to take away from it simply stunning lines. I would use a monofilament thread and follow the line to hide the thread. Then bind in a dark to frame it. This is a work of art that need little frame. It makes me think of the way Warhol used color.
That is gorgeous. I would SITD for the squares and do something fancy on the border
