Owls & Frogs wall hangings
2 Attachment(s)
I wanted to try some free motion quilting using Zentangle. I did the owls first, but don't feel I did a real great job on the sashing & borders. The next weekend I did the frogs and colored them with crayons. This one I am thinking of exhibiting in the Central Washington State Fair this year. I have never exhibited before, so I am excited.

Both are cute but the owls are my favourites!
Excellent!
Very very cute!!!
They are both very nice wall hangings.
They are both really cool.
Adorably done.
they are both beautiful..were they first drawn with marker and then quilted?
Those are both awesome. And I love the border fabrics you used.
I think both are fantastic. I would love to try Zentangle just with ink and paper, but I am too OCD or something to just let myself go and doodle. Everything would be too symmetrical, if that makes sense. I have a friend who is an artist and she does wonderful pen and ink drawings that would translate well into Zentangle like quilting. Just don't have that vision I guess. You go girl, yours are wonderful.
Great work. I love the owls too, I think they deserve a chance too.
Those are very cute.
Oh, and did I tell you how much I love, love, love frogs. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
So cute nice job!!!!
Both are darling. For us newbies, Please tell us more about coloring with crayons. I've never heard of this before. Good luck in the competition. I'm sure you will do very well.
I love them both. You're very creative. I have the same question as DianneK - did you draw first, or just start in quilting?
Very nice. I love Zentangle and yours turned out well. Practicing the Zentangle style of doodling is a great way to free yourself form learned or self imposed restrictions. Quilting has become way more fun after using these techniques.
You should defienitely enter them in the show. Thanks for sharing your fun "Zens". peace |
Great job and good luck!
yes, I used a fine marker to draw them out. The owls are from a Zentangle book that shows how to do it. The frogs are from coloring books. They are surprisingly easy to do. You try it, you'll enjoy it.
After sewing free motion, just color with crayons, iron them with a paper towel covering the crayon color, changing the towels until no more color shows up. Then you are done.
Sew sew cute!
Great looking wall hangings
i love these.
my daughter's teacher taught them zentangle this year, and some of hers are really amazing. i showed her this thread, and she told me she was going to learn how to do this! too bad that singer 401 i bought for her isn't a wonderful free motion machine. i guess we might have to upgrade around here ;) aileen |
Those are really cute. Good luck in your fair entry.
Both are great! Aren't zentangles fun? Love them and love your wall hangings!
I love 'em both! I like your quilting..seems like you captured the owls with a 'leafy' sorta look & the frogs with the water, etc. I like frogs! Had soo many, didn't realize how many til I turned my sons room(after he left home a few tears!) into My Frog Room!!
I really love your frog and owl wall hangings. You did such wonderful work on them. I would love to learn how you did the frogs.
