Can you explain a bit more detail about the binding? What was it? Lace? Hand crocheted? I can't make it out.

I can only "guess" that it is a lace like trim treatment, but heavy stuff like you would find on heavy drapery. She used a few other trims just the inside of the binding, and around one or two of the borders.

I'm only guessing mind you as there was no "write up" on any of the quilts. Perhaps we'll find out in the next issue of the AQS magazine.

So you think she just went into Joann's and bought a few yards of trim and used a coupon?

JK. ;-)

This is one quilt that I would like to see more about. Who, what, when, timeline?

For those that don't know, Pat Holly is the sister of Sue Nickels, also an award winning quilter.

They are "famous" for their Beatles and Space quilts, both of which also won top honors at Paducah (and/or Houston - I can't remember).

You can see those masterpieces in the gallery on Sue's site here:

The detailing on the all these quilts is amazing.

Awesome. I wonder how much time was involved?

What a work of art! I cannot even fathom the patience AND eyesight it would take to accomplish that.

Nice pix - thanks for sharing with us.
