This! :-)

We live in the country--very rural. NO neighbors on our side of the road for a mile either direction. There are neighbors across the road--but a few tenths down both sides. Anyway--the granddaughter of the wonderful woman who was our neighbor for years--is moving into her grandmother's house. She and her husband have 9 kids, age 1-19--so are renovating to add lots of space first. Will take a while before they are here permanently. I'm making a pile of things for their house warming gifts. Ragged flannels for sure... But this is the first piece--a wall hanging. Kris loves birds. ;-)

I have another of these panels so I think I'll make a wall hanging for my classroom. I'll make the strips narrower though.

EQ7 helped me try different ideas and I liked this one best. I made a 2nd--blocks aren't sewed together yet--but strips are narrower by .5" and I think I like it better. I'll post it on this thread when done so you can see which you want to do. I put all green on blocks 1 and 12... then on 5 did green first, then floral; and on the other 5 did floral before green. If you study the photo--and number your bird blocks--it'll be easy to do this design. It goes together fast. I'd love to see if you do it!

This is wonderful. Love the fabrics you chose for it. It is simply perfect.

Wonderful use of a beautiful quilt panel. Your quilt is really great. I think you designed a wall hanging that will be treasured.

redquilter 11-27-2016 05:21 PM

I love birds also and this quilt really speaks to me. It's beautiful. You did an amazing job turning a panel into something wonderful.

zozee 11-27-2016 05:44 PM

Just beautiful. I love the feeling of height it has.

Nine kids? That's great! You're gonna be a favorite with them!

I too have one of these panels, just couldn't bring myself to cut it and sew it as originally designed. I'd love it is you could share more detail about sizes of strips etc - maybe a tutorial for all? I love what you did with this!

mucky 11-27-2016 06:45 PM

It was a great arrangement for the panels.

lynnie 11-27-2016 09:00 PM

wow, your setting is amazing. adds so much to the panel

GramMER 11-28-2016 02:22 AM

What a beautiful creation! I am simply NOT able to imagine such designs without seeing them first. I have started a flower fairies quilt for our granddaughter and the best I could come up with is "Attic Windows" frames. It is pretty, but this is so unique!

Please share your source for the pannel. I can't wait to try my hand at making one too.

It's by Elizabeth Studios. I tried a search with that and added birds--and it came up.
I'll show the smaller one once I'm finished so folks can see which strip width they like.

twinkie 11-28-2016 03:36 AM

That is a beautiful design. I know they will love it.

kittiebug 11-28-2016 03:43 AM

Love what you did with that panel . Beautiful quilt

Yooper32 11-28-2016 04:15 AM

How you figured out that layout is beyond me, but it sure works well and makes a real beauty of a wall hanging. Wish I were that inventive.

Bobbielinks 11-28-2016 04:22 AM

Very, very nice! Love how you made it look like the tree is in the center outside a window and all the birds are visiting.

nabobw 11-28-2016 05:10 AM

Love the way you did it

sinceresissy 11-28-2016 05:13 AM
