The 400 series were hard working, sturdy machines for the home. You'll have so much fun with her, and what a treat that she was your grandma's machine. Keep her well oiled and she will run forever!! :-) I love the vintage Singers--I have 2 of them myself!!

Looks like the ones we learned to sew on in school...so I think mid to late 60s. Enjoy!

that machine was made when machines were made good

Looks like the one mom had except it was grey, I can still hear and smell it....

Nice! You'll have this machine for a long time.

I have one just like it that was given to me last week. Sews like a charm.

cool, looks like one I use to sew on with my Grandmother. It brings back some awesome memories....I lost my grandma 35 years ago. I am the only one that got my Grandma's love of sewing, knitting, crocheting.

What a very nice gift to pass on...

not only can you sew silk perfectly on that machine, she'll go right through a 2 x 4 . lucky you

Lucky you to have your G'mas machine. I like the vintage ones myself....I have 9. My Grandmother was a seamstress. She could make patterns out of newspaper! I wish I had her machine or tools and notions.
