Patches and Pinwheels

3 Attachment(s)
This is from Bonnie Hunter's Patches and Pinwheels pattern; however, it is made with 3.5" squares that were given to me by a generous Board member. The pinwheels are also made with gift fabrics from another wonderful Board member. For that matter, I also purchased the border, backing, and binding fabrics here--I guess you could say it is a Quilting Board quilt! :)

The border/binding area isn't really so wavy--I don't have a great place for pictures, and the wind was blowing, but you get the basic idea.

I liked putting this one together-- it has lots of older-type fabrics, and they were/are fun to look at. It wound up 75" X 95."

Pretty! Nice colors too.

AngeliaNR 05-05-2015 01:02 PM

For anyone who is interested, here is a link to the pattern. It is easy, but be sure to read the tip about the direction of the pinwheels--they alternate by rows. Also, be aware that my squares are larger than hers.

I'm thinking I could work up this pattern with the fabric swatches I've saved (2-5" squares of everything I sewed for my daughter). Beings she likes Teddy Bears; for the light half of the pinwheels, I could use the white tone-on-tone teddy bear print throughout. Cutting the 5" squares into 4-2 1/2" pcs. for the 16-patch should work. WooHoo!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful scrappy quilt. Love, love, love it.
