Oh, Rhonda you did a great job. If that is a checkbook cover, your pieces of fabric must have been very small!

Janstar 03-10-2009 06:22 PM

Those are very cool!

Rhonda 03-10-2009 06:32 PM

Thanks! The small pieces just happen when you use my shortcuts. The smallest piece is usually just 1 1/4" but I do make keychains using a 1" square.

Oh, Rhonda, those are beautiful! Are they paper pieced? Or do you just work with really small pieces?

I started the bookmarks about three years ago and they are my number two seller. They are also the top draw for people on my free teaching site online. They are not a lot of time to make and look dramatic.

Thanks! I have shortcuts I use that make the small pieces just happen. When I find a place on here to put my links you can see for yourself on my free teaching site.

I have a friend who works with me and she does the prep work and she did the embroidery on these bookmarks. She does a wonderful job. She is very precise which is necessary in miniatures.

Wow, your work is stupendous! Such attention to detail on something so small!

Rhonda 03-10-2009 07:21 PM

I have been told recently I need to add cell phone holders to my list. I have been looking at them but haven't designed any yet. I can send you a note when I get something worked out.

Jim's Gem 03-10-2009 09:00 PM

Beautiful work Rhonda. I have made your bookmarks. I made my own template to cut the pieces but have considered ordering the templates that (I think) you had. Plan to make some more. Thanks for sharing.

Rhonda 03-10-2009 09:17 PM

It's good to get some feedback on the bookmarks Jim's Gem. Have you posted any pictures of your bookmarks? How did it go to follow the directions?

Katrine 03-10-2009 10:28 PM

Rhonda, they are exquisite. I especially like the braid bookmark.

gcathie 03-10-2009 10:42 PM

Wow that is an awesome job you have done......!!!!.....:-)

quilter1962 03-10-2009 10:45 PM

Rhonda

Beautiful work - are they paper pieced - such attention to detail, well done.

Tisha

Rhonda 03-11-2009 06:21 AM

No I do not even know how to do paper piecing! I have developed shortcuts over the years that allow me to do a lot of things. I make what I call "Blocks" which are swatches sewn together and then cut out a square with a template. The small pieces happen when you sew the "Blocks" together. You can see a few on my free teaching site.

sewjoyce 03-11-2009 06:24 AM

Beautiful stuff!!!

Rhonda 03-11-2009 06:34 AM

You can get the directions on how to make the Boston Braid bookmark on my free!! teaching site. It is easier than you think. The shortcuts make it easy to do!

stonington 03-11-2009 06:43 AM

Hi Rhonda, Love all of your beautiful projects. Could you post the link to your site? or is that allowed? lol. Still somewhat of a newbie here so don't want to ask something not appropriate. :D

Rhonda-your minis are adorable. Thank you to the link to your website. I have bookmarked it for future reference.

Rhonda 03-11-2009 07:30 PM

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. I get a kick out of challenging myself to see how small I can go. I'm easily bored so I have to do things that don't take a lot of time to do or I lose interest and then I have to push myself to finish. I am a great procrastinator but that doesn't meet the next deadline!!!

Rhonda 03-11-2009 07:32 PM

For the record the Boston Braid Bookmark is one of my favorites too!

I have not posted pictures of my bookmarks. I made about 5 and I think I have one left around here. It is really pretty, just not sure where it is at the moment. They were easy to do and I matched a couple of them to quilts that were given to the same people. I made my own template, it may not be a perfect size. I also, after the first one, did not starch or stiffen them any more. Like them non-stiff. thanks for the patterns. I should try and make some more, I do have a little container that has quite a few lonely blocks already cut out and some small pieces to use toward more.

Sharon M 03-11-2009 07:55 PM

Rhonda, your work is wonderful and so nice that you have an outlet to sell and make money to buy ...
more material?
Love the checkbook covers and the pot holders

Rhonda 03-11-2009 07:56 PM

I have a friend that makes the "Blocks" for me. Saves me time. She makes hundreds and thousands of them in a week's time. She made 3 thousand of them over about two weeks one time and she keeps me supplied. I have 55 organisers filled to the brim so I get to sit down and play with color and design!!

stonington 03-12-2009 04:52 AM

Success! :D Beautiful site.. thanks!
