Now that I have the all of the material for some material I have had for a while I need a pattern. Below is a pic of my main and the second is the main with all the ones I found to go with it.
I want the main to be the bigest pieces and I am thinking something not to busy. I don't have to use all of the material, I was thinking just the first 5 or 6.
Here are the amounts..
Main African- almost 3 yrds
the triangles - 2 yrds and the rest are one yard each.

I will be looking threw all my patterns to see what I have and I have alot.

The main fabric

The main with all the others.

I love all your fabrics :-D

Excuse my sounding a bit like a broken record, but these would lend well to a Just Can't Cut It ( http://www.tropicalquilter.com/awu04.html ) or a Turning Twenty - you'd get to really showcase your main fabric, and include the rest of them. I'm sure you could swap around the fabrics for the Just Can't Cut It so they'd all be included, easily.

I agree with u plus i would show of the beauty of the masks, may be making big blocks will be enough
and u have wonderful colors. Is it viscose or thick cotton?

sewnsewer2 01-23-2010 09:24 AM

You might try blankquilting.com tho.

Boxer mom 01-23-2010 09:34 AM

I like, I will put it in the file with the others and then I will have to choose.

jewelps 01-23-2010 10:49 AM

WOW :D love the mixture of the fabric, can't wait to see the finished product

BeachBirdie 01-23-2010 10:59 AM

Where did you find the fabric second from the left??? I love it!

Auntie M 01-23-2010 11:35 AM

can't wait to see what you choose, love all of them

sewsue 01-23-2010 12:08 PM

Boxer Mom Maybe the masks as centre pieces blocks with flying geese around them. Also the fabric (bright blocks triangles) would be the bottom hut walls with the 5th fabric stripes for the huts roofs. Also you could use the 3rd fabric for the sides of the flying geese. fabric 4 and 6 for some ground pieces and join all with sashings of fabric 7 then border with the last one. Maybe you should see if you could get the book of Quilt Africa by Jenny Williamson and Pat Porter nr ISBN 1919790802 (2004)

NauDeeGal 01-23-2010 12:12 PM

the fabrics you have here are great. I can't wait to see them put together in your quilt project. I would be tempted to save some for a quilted tote bag, too!

I like your quilt. I have a friend who is from South Africa and thought she would love a quilt made from the main material which I have had for quite awhile now.

I love the pattern, was looking for something with big blocks and to kind of have a African look to the pattern. I have gone threw almost all of my patterns and have a few in mind.
Keep looking, I am sure we can find something.

Yes, I got a 23 pic/page Power Point slide show, but since I don't have M. Office, my Open Office Impress opened it. Nice!! Everything looked as it should from what I can tell.

butterflywing 01-24-2010 05:25 PM

It was a freebie from www.clothworkstextiles.com. Let me know if you can't find it & i will try to e-mail a copy of my thread-bare directions. sorry for any typo's. recovering from carpal tunnel surgery and typing is a b#%$#@.

I have been there and done that, I had my carpal tunnel surgery in 2000 and was told in about 10 years i might need to have the scar tissue loosened and guess what, I do. I am happy with the way things turned out, not happy that I lost strength in my hands because I was always a very independent person and now I need help with some things.
Good luck and do all your therapy and if you feel you need more tell them.

I will check out the site, thanks.

It's amazing just how many people have had the surgery. Couldn't be quilt-related, could it? It's probably from all the unsewing I do. Thanks formyour note.

How about the High Light quilt pattern..Free here

http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/projec...h-light_1.html

It has big squares to show off the fabric. put some of your main fabric on front, and use the rest on the back..piece the back.

Or a "bento box" quilt

High Light quilt, NOT done by me.

You just made my choices eve harder, I do rlike this one also. Did you see the downloads of the other 3 I am looking at also?
Tell me what you think of those, I have saved a copy of your pattern. I am trying to stay in the African looking patterns and yours fits. Thanks

No, mine was from doing manual labor jobs most of my life with repetative motion (as you know). My hands do hurt sometimes during and after quilting. I still sleep with my braces on at night when they bother me. Keep your braces and use them when needed, they really do help. Good luck,

I checked them all out..the safari one would work, like the one you linked to.if you put the main fabric with the masks in the center..otherwise you will loose the pattern of that one. Everyone is so helpful! Great ideas!
when i am looking for inspiration,i go to webshots..
