This was started fall 09 and I finished handquilting it about 3 weeks ago and decided it was time to photograph and share it. For those unfamiliar with a Round Robin, it's a fun exchange quilt. Groups were set up in my quilt chapter with 4 and 5 people. There were 5 in my group. Each of us made the center square and could add in fabric if we wished and I did include some with they used here and there to tie the quilt together. After completing our squares, we exchanged with the next person on the list who added a border to enhance the quilt. Since I had no restrictions, each did their own thing and I love the end results of this quilt.
1st. border is the tiny block border.
2nd border is a floral hand pieced applique
3rd border is the pretty zig zag made by our only male guild member and he is one awesome sewer.
4th border was done by a machine embroiderer who just bought a new machine and wanted to use it on our borders so she put the pretty little flower on the corners using a bit of my included fabric. That's how it was when I got it back. Before leaving the meeting that night I knew I had to add the scalloped border to it and am glad I did as it just finishes the quilt. One of the ladies in our group was so thrilled with hers tht she's enlarging it to fit a king sized bed. A round robin gives you a good start on whatever you want to do with it from a wall hanger to a throw or enlarge it out to make it to fit a bed. The really fun thing about a round robin is that there are techniques on here that I would never have thought to add to a quilt. Initially I planned to use it as a wall hanging in one of our bedrooms but it's a bit too large so it is a throw and is on our living room sofa where in enhances the decore of the room.
Photo of tag made by the lady with the embroidery machine for all of us to put on our finished quilts.

Thank you. LOL. Most of my quilts have been given away as soon as they have been completed but this one is mine and one day, one of the kids or grandchildren will claim it but for now it's dressing up my living room.

Thank you and yes there are. All 5 of the quilts in my Round Robin group were outstanding. Every member in my Round Robin group is a quilter capable of completing their own quilt start to finish which also helped a lot. We two other round robin groups going right now and I also have a quilt in one of them. We do our 4th exchange next week so I'll get mine back in 2 months and can't wait to see how it came. My chapter also has several fairly new quilters but very talent ones as well.

I chose Dawn Marie as back when she was born, it was considered to be the most beautiful name in the English language plus it's a beautiful time of day. She always hated her name and had trouble spelling it correctly. Eventually we learned she was dyslexic which accounted for her switching it up Damn. Yup. such a beautiful name and I was hear broken when those school papers came home with her name spelled that way but now she's a whiz at spelling, math and everything else. We didn't get the diagnosis confirmed until her junior year in college and she was an English and Math major - two of the worst subjects when you're dyslexic and then she was straight A's in French all the way through. I think another meaning for Dawn should me "I do can anything I want and you can't tell me any different." I often find myself applauding her and cheering on and telling her that if there ever was a time to prove me wrong, this is a good time to do it and she always succeeds. Love your name and my daughter and daughter in law. Christmas' got very interesting let me tell you. We couldn't even put the girls last names on the packages because she would still grab the gifts that said Dawn (last name). LOL

Thank you so much. I was amazed at where they took after my center square but green works well so many colors. That carpenter's wheel block was a challenge for me and it took me two to get it right. The other is in my cabinet waiting for me to decide if it's worth taking apart and re-doing or what. It just didn't lay right. My Dad was a carpenter who would have loved to have done it full time but in north central IL, back then, he could provide for a family of 6 so had to work in the steel mill. He was so skilled and talented as a carpenter and everything he did was amazing. His cabinets were beautiful and so well built. He's been gone for many years but I still admire his talent.

If you ever have the chance to participate in a round robin, I encourage you to do it if possible as they are fun.

That is gorgeous and exquisite and beautiful. Yes, it shoudl be in a quilt show so many people can appreciate it.

It would be fun to see the other quilts in your group's round robin. Do they fit together as a set, or are they all very different? Any chance of getting photos for us?
