Photo Transfer
2 Attachment(s)
This was something that sat on the backburner for a while. The picture transfer is of my sister taken in 2011. It was a 8x10 so this piece is about 36x20. I'm really pleased how I made the "transfer" disappear. And of course, one of my favourite subjects, BC.

That is amazing! Beautiful work!

MaryK ... I have been watching you "build" this one on your blog ... and with every update, I just cannot imagine the transformation that has taken place! Another of your amazing works.
Hope you are keeping this from your sister and will surprise her when you ship it west!! (and that you are keeping to show it off at your Guild show) .......... and that she is being ordered to keep it for herself (or that you keep it all for yourself??) :D Congratulations!! on this latest feat!!!!!!!!!! |

Yes I have been considering keeping it till after the show in May. This is the first year they have an official "art Quilt" category. Could be interesting!
Thanks E. |

Tooooo funny ... and yes, would be a good conversation piece. But gosh, the significance of this one ... it just HAS to stay with one of you! :) And what better one to keep for yourself?? You could then have your own bit of BC at home with you, along with your sister. What you need to do next ... is a similar one, with yourself in it, to give to her! :D No question about it ... a MUST for the show! :) |
Fabulous! I'd love to know how you did this! It's amazing!
|
thanks for sharing your "How to "

Sitting hear in slack jawed amazement. Fabulous and flawless. Can't see where the picture transfer ends and the background begins. Wish I could see it in person.

However, she has not managed to disperse doses of her magical pixie dust, which really is what we need!! :) |

Photo transfers are made with specialized or treated fabric. They are run through a standard computer printer. There are instructions that come with the prepared fabric and plenty of on line tutorials. Most high end quilt shops sell the pretreated fabric sheets. |
that is so dang cool I can't even believe it! I so want to do an art quilt. Will have to check out your blog

That's fantastic. What a wonderful gift to give her. Actually can't think of enough superlatives to describe your quilt.
