Oh how refreshing it was to have no triangles in this!!
There are none planned for the next two patterns either!

It was easy to find three coodinating fabrics for the main fabric here, but I wanted five. It took a long time, probably the most time I've ever spent choosing colors for a quilt.

I was going to add a yellow border, but decided I liked it as is--it just didn't need a splash of brightness.

Binding will be the green for a nice framing.
It's tricky to get the colors to be true.

I believe gaigai showed me the floral fabric in a link and I loved it.

I'm going to sell it. ;-)

I love that pattern and you did a great job on the quilt. Now you get to try triangles on your next project. LOL!

I thought the same!!

It's definitely a soft quilt. I picture it in a baby girl's crib, or on a great-grandma's rocking chair. :-D

quiltinggirl 09-19-2010 02:55 PM

It's in an old magazine that no one seems to be able to find. But it's so simple. Pick the five coordinating colors, sew them in strips, cut them into squares, then cut the solid blocks into the same size squares. In this one the strips are 1.75" and get cut into 6.75" squares and the squares are cut at 6.75". Just follow the photo of mine to sew them together.

I love to make the sizes smaller for baby quilts. This is one of my favorite patterns--so easy but it looks awesome. And picking colors is one of my favorite parts!

Wow, I love your quilt. Maybe it's a pattern I can use some of the big florals in. I am drawn to them. Thanks for sharing.

That looks like the one I am starting for my grandson. I had a print with 5" penquins and needed a pattern that would show them off. My pattern is called "Warm Wishes". Is that the name of yours? I hope my turns out as nice. I will post when done. Hopefully it will be ready for his birthday on Oct. 18.

Jim's Gem 09-19-2010 03:40 PM

Beautiful!! Love the colors, they are so soft and feminine!

That's along the same idea... WW has three coodinating fabrics and the strips vary in width. This one has five coordinating and all strips are the same width.

grammiepamie 09-19-2010 04:09 PM

The little stipped fabric just sets the block off. It is so pretty.

Kathy N 09-19-2010 04:43 PM

I just saw that pattern on line today. It was called 3D rail fence. I had googled 3D quilt block patterns and it was one that came up.

quiltnmom 09-19-2010 04:46 PM

Thanks for showing. The Warm Wishes pattern is on my list of projects too.

Close! Just more strips in this one. That one is like WW--just same width strips.

Nah. But I'll show the lastest two tops to my students. They need to help me figure out if I need to detemine perimeter or area to measure the binding and back.

butterflywing 09-19-2010 05:19 PM

Gorgeous and I love the colors, don't meet too many colors I don't love. You did a great job on it. I too am sick of triangles after making my blue and white Union Square quilt not long ago.
