I ran for vinyl and love your ideas
I cut out for the feed dogs so I could switch to decorative stitches without rearranging everything.
Thanks for sharing

I had to replace my Brother machine & my $80 custom made Sew-Steady table I got for it doesn't fit my new Brother Machine. The new machine came with a small table. I'll be getting vinyl for it...fabric doesn't move too well for FMQ. And I'll rig up something with the old table, maybe that will give me more surface to hold my quilt. Thank you for a great idea!!

I saw nothing negative.. clever idea. TFS..

Excellent idea!! I have some leftover vinyl that I can easily use -- my table does not slide enough. Like the idea of cutting out the feeddogs since I like to use decorative stitching when I am quilting sometimes, but I still want it to slide.

I am new to all of this, why this, makes it move easier? So covering the feed. makes it move smoothly right? U just keep turning and moving and make your own design right? I have a special foot I bought for my Singer machine, has a circle on it and for FMQ.....Do u have to use a certain stitch lgth???

Hi Cajamk, I saw your post yesterday on the slider and went to the site to check it out. They are spendy. I thank you for the update on your pictures and how you made it. I'am going to buy some heavy gauge vinil and make one. I fell like I'am going into battle when I fmo. Thanks s much. Barb

check out the below site; she sells the sliders and demonstratest them; it's a good site for FMQ; beginning and not so newbies alike

the sliders make the whole top of the area alot eaiser for the fabric to move; gloves help hold onto the fabric so that you don't have to grip it. sometimes the tension has to be changed. Here is a link to one site that helps alot; this is her way and there are so many ways. I really like this vinyl idea; a whole lot cheaper. The key to all aspects of quilting is to keep on learning new things and that's what's great about this board.
