Your use of the "film strip" is ingenious! Iwould never have thought of something like that, because I don't think I could make it!

Wonderful!

gailkv 03-28-2011 07:54 PM

I love the way you have made it look like strips of film... really love it!

BobbiSue 03-28-2011 07:56 PM

 Go for it!! Have fun! I used Avery Iron On Transfers ( for light colored t shirts)available at Walmart or Staples and an inkjet printer, 1/2 " black and white striped fabric, cut 1 " WOF, and sashed with 3/4" black to get the sprocket effect of film, and black sashing between the pics.

This is so beautiful, do you have a pattern site for this or is this your own creation.I would love to make one for my brother who has raised his 2 sons by himself.I have been wanting to make something special for him. This would be perfect!

Hi, I love your picture quilt. I have been looking for the film fabric and can not find it. Would you tell me were you located your fabric? My GDIL wants a photo quilt of her wedding.
I posted a request on the Quilt Board for the fabric and was sent your quilt photo. Thank you for your help. Mavis

Cut 1 inch WOF black and white striped fabric.( My fabric was 3/8" stripes. I bought it on line from Kickass Country Store, in Manitoba Canada. I'm sure Carol would send it to you by mail as she did for me)) Add 3/4 " black sashing on either side and you have the sprocket effect. Use 3/4" black sashing between the pictures that have been printed on fabric sheets. (four pictues fit on each sheet, available at Walmart) Attach sprocket effect on either side of the strip of pictures, and you have your film. I hope this explains it enough!

Lovely quilt! I've wanted to do one of these, but thought I'd have to piece the "film" edge.

For those in USA, there are a few vendors that have this fabric available through quiltshops.com. Search for "Socky" or Windham 23936.
