Fiance calls this one my Sunday Night quilt. It's the one I'm hand quilting, usually on Sunday nights when we watch all of our TV shows. I had a stack of 8.5 inch squares left from something or other, so this one was born lol.

What a beautiful fall quilt, looks warm and cozy. I've only hand quilted one of my quilts so far. there's something very satisfying about hand quilting don't you think?

zyxquilts 11-09-2008 01:11 AM

beachlady 11-09-2008 04:05 AM

Great colors for this time of year. And your hand quilting is perfect!

auntluc 11-09-2008 04:14 AM

It has the look of a very comforting old fashioned quilt...and I mean that in a good way. Even the name "Sunday Night Quilt" and you've outdone yourself by hand quilting with such perfect stitching. Great job.

sandpat 11-09-2008 05:22 AM

Wow..those are HAND stitches???? I'm ashamed to show you mine now  Fabulous job on this one!

I love all the fabrics in your quilt and your hand quilting is to die for!!!! What a fun snuggly quilt you have made!!!

babeegirl 11-09-2008 12:02 PM

I use a sliver of bath soap to mark the meandering line as I go. You know those skinny thin pieces we usually toss when it's time for a new bar? they work great on dark fabrics.

judee0624 11-09-2008 12:10 PM

Nice work! Thanks for posting.
Do you still want that country plaid fabric?

judee

GailG 11-09-2008 12:12 PM

Babeegirl you have erased my question. I was going to ask if the quilting lines were marked. It seems so perfect to be just meandering like that. Those stitches are gorgeous !! Another question: Does the quilter just hold the quilt in her lap and hand quilt or does she use a hoop. I am so awkward with a hoop.

babeegirl 11-09-2008 02:11 PM

I'm using a big wooden hoop I got at a thrift store. It's almost too big to handle. I think it's about 20 inches across.

Sure, Judee! no rush though, I'm not starting that quilt until after Christmas.

quiltsRfun 11-09-2008 02:42 PM

I love those warm colors. And your hand quilting is excellent.

GailG 11-09-2008 03:56 PM

That's about the size hoop I have and I find it very awkward. I repeat, your quilting is amazing.

sewnsewer2 11-09-2008 04:16 PM

That's really pretty, and your meandering looks great!

That is some impressive hand quilting. :) How do you manage to keep your stitches so even?

YES, SO HOW DO YOU GET THOSE GREAT STITCHES?

babeegirl 11-10-2008 06:01 AM

I'm using #9 quilting betweens (needles). I load only about 3 stitches at a time on the needle. I stitch very slowly so this one will take a LOT of Sunday nights:)

Carol W 11-11-2008 08:01 PM

Beautiful quilt with beautiful stitches.

Kara 11-12-2008 12:30 PM
