Here are some pics of my projects that are all started but not done. The table runner is the only one done but that is because I did the top and then my mom quilted it all together. Everything is hand sewn.

Lovely Star! I LOVE the bears and deers one - and the blue octogans especially but they're ALL great!

Hand sewn too - wow! That's what I used to do before I discovered the board, now I have so much on the go I HAVE to machine more! LOL

STAR 06-30-2009 11:29 AM

Thanx, the bear one is for my husband. and the octogan i think is called a snowball, I started that one when I had my tonsils out and was in bed for 2 weeks. My husband wants to get me a machine but I think its just because he wants his quilt!

Quilt4u 06-30-2009 11:30 AM

Hey, let him get you one! But don't leave the hand work behind completely - that'd be a shame! I still do a bit from time to time :D

Chele 06-30-2009 11:34 AM

Go STAR! You do beautiful work! Make more!

STAR 06-30-2009 11:44 AM

k3n- yeah I will let him, but I think I will only use it on quick projects until I get the hang of it. I won't give up the hand quilting either sonce i still have so much to learn, it may be slow but I really like it!

Yes, and that's the POINT I have to keep reminding myself!!!! To enjoy it and not getting bogged down with 'have to dos'!!! :D

gaigai 06-30-2009 11:54 AM

They look great. I think you have a good eye for color!

SharonC 06-30-2009 11:57 AM

Star - I love your work and I know what you mean about hand-work. The machine will make things go faster, but I find handwork is more relaxing some times. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

STAR 06-30-2009 12:01 PM

gaigai- actually brfore I even really was to interested in quilting I would watch my grandma and mom together and go shopping for fabric with them. They took me along to pick out and match up colors! :-) I was just happy to be included

PamH 06-30-2009 12:08 PM

Beutiful work Star!!

STAR 06-30-2009 12:10 PM

I work in a factory but I like to just sit alone at break with my little tote bag and mark material or sew together small bocks. I think it helps me forget I'm at work for a min and if i only get a few done at least I found time to work on them

Debbie1 06-30-2009 12:31 PM

I have never hand-pieced a quilt (though I have hand-stitched baby garments). Do you mark the seam stitching lines? I have a friend who does. I just can't imagine how much time it must take to do a project?

Your work is beautiful. Yes, and the colors are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

STAR 07-01-2009 05:08 AM

GailG- yup I get my ruler and pencil out and mark all sides of my squares, takes alot of time. and thanx for the comments

loulou1972 07-01-2009 09:39 AM

Hi Star

They are wonderful and you are very talented.

I shy away from hand sewing more a machine person.

Where did you get the bear fabric, was it online would they send to the UK?? i must have NOW for my stash !!!!

Lou

Ducky 07-01-2009 12:37 PM

Those are great Star! You did really nice work!

Shemjo 07-01-2009 08:08 PM

Beautiful work!
I have a friend who is a dental hygienist and she used to hand sew everything, mostly during down time at work. Now she does machine sewing with a new machine. She just didn't even have a machine at all! Her hand piecing is exquisite! So precise and everything lays so flat! She is learning how to machine quilt now!

canmitch1971 07-01-2009 08:20 PM

very nice

Bevanger 07-02-2009 06:39 AM

stitchinMamaw 07-06-2009 09:02 AM

Welcome from Virginia . I just love the wildlife quilt . Love animal fabric , I would like to have some of that , too . Hand piecing that is how I started out . I still do at times . What are you doing now ? I'm hand piecing small hexagons for a tote . Annie

STAR 07-06-2009 09:07 AM

stitchinMawmaw- Yes I liked this fabric also the quilt is for my husband. I think i got it at Walmart, but was a couple of years ago. The backing for it is also wildlife but ib color not silouette(don't think i spelled that right). Right now I am working on my doll quilt for the July swap.

stitchinMamaw 07-06-2009 09:13 AM

That's where I get my fabric , too . I just got some with [ bears , antelope , deer , wolves and bighorn sheep ] . Love my animal fabric , can you tell ? Annie
