Patti---It was a wonderful show---I was there Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. Eleanor Burns and Jan Patek were both there and I got to talk to both of them (even had my pic taken with Jan and she autographed a pattern I bought :D ) I bought MORE Civil War reproduction fabrics, some wools, several patterns and gifts for a few friends. I could have spent a LOT more money, but I used restraint---and that was NOT easy!!!

I wish you could have been there too!!

Beautiful quilts Marcia. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures from the show. Isn't it fun to go to shows and see all the various quilt techniques and color placements. Some of them are gorgeous and I have to say some of the quilts I saw were....um... interesting.

Gayle---"Interesting" is EXACTLY how I felt about some of the ones I saw there too.

I am not an art quilter and batiks are not my favorites (don't throw stones at me, all you batik lovers  ) BUT I do appreciate the imagination, time and talent that goes into every quilt. I know that there are lots of different tastes on our board, so I took pics of a variety of quilts so that there was something for every interest. I hope everyone can find at least one that appeals to them.

Mamaskeeto 07-31-2009 06:39 AM

I really enjoyed looking at all the quilts you shared. Thank you. My favorite is A View from Down Under, love the color choices and the buildings are amazing. I am intrigued by art quilts. The applique quilts are gorgeous too.

I may never do one, but those Baltimore Album/applique quilts are REALLY tempting ... they are just fantastic!
And, I can't say it enough! THANK YOU for posting the pictures! That was a special thought toward us, and we appreciate it very much.

It's spectacular! Is she from NYC?

JoanneS 07-31-2009 07:19 PM

Marcia - thank you SO much for sharing the pictures. There were so many that deserved ribbons, but didn't get them. It must be very hard to be a judge!

Do you know who made the Best Of Show quilt?

I've seen a small picture of the 'Burgoyne Surrounded' in a magazine - great to see your larger one. Awesome shading!

Silver Light - the tranquility of this quilt is wonderful. Could you tell if the tree trunks' colors were on the fabric, thread-painted or actually painted?

Finally, I loved the gorgeous quilted roses in the one you called'green'

Yarn or Fabric 08-01-2009 04:17 AM

I really wish I could have gone to that show whimper whimper. I wanted to but the timing was just bad. I will go next year - and I want to go to Paducah. I already told my family that I would not be visiting them next year - I'm going to a quilt show instead! I only get one trip a year to myself pretty much so next year it will be spent walking around fabric!! I'll try to arrange a family reunion camping trip or something instead - this way everyone has a chance to see each other..!
