Piddlin

I found this adorable "medical" fabric at Wal-Mart on sale. It was wider than usual and NOT cotton but I bought it anyway. Now what could I use it for????? Since I didn't want to clean  or anything actually useful, thought I would use my favorite nurse as a guinea pig. I used the "Sweet Retreat's Little Sister" pattern by Whistlepig Creek Productions. Added a little checkbook cover in the pocket, even had a blank register so you could tell what it was for. Gave it to her yesterday, she loved it!!

What a great bag! I think I am going to break down and buy a bag pattern--so far I've made 6 or 8 mostly "out of my head". Thanks for sharing.

sharon b 06-02-2012 07:17 AM

Oh Oh better be careful or you are going to be getting lots of requests :) And so much better than cleaning - which by the way may I remind you the dust will only return

serenitybygrace 06-02-2012 07:17 AM

Very cute! You really turned that out quick! I will bet she loved it, who wouldn"t?

Helen S 06-02-2012 07:23 AM

Well, gee! Who WOULDN'T love it! You did a wonderful job and it looks like she should enjoy it for many years to come!

LynnVT 06-02-2012 07:23 AM

Of course she loved it, it's wonderful! Yes, I hope you bought a lot of fabric, because her friends at work will want them too. I should also be cleaning. It's raining, so I can't "waste" any time in the garden today. 8)

Thank you for mentioning what pattern you used.

Love the colors you used for it.

Wasn't expecting to see a bag, though, from the title!

Actually, it's more like a three-fer... add "getting out of cleaning house"... BONUS! LOL! This bag is super cute! And what a sweet friend you are to make it! Great job!

burchquilts 06-02-2012 09:15 PM

And BTW..., I had to chuckle when I saw "piddlin' ". That's what my Mother always called it when she was "playing hooky"... LOL! "What'cha been doing today, Mom?" "Oh, not cleaning -- just piddlin'..."

I just love this bag and the fabric is wonderful. Thanks for sharing both the finished product and the pattern name.
I have only made 1 purse before but I have been inspired by so many of the ones shown here on the quilt board that I am wanting to try again to make myself some and maybe for some of my family.
