What a neat idea. My son lives at Grass lake andsees lots of antlers, I'll have to tell him about this.

Wow! They're beautiful! We're surrounded by pines here and every once in a while I find deer antlers that have been shed. I'd love to learn how to make them.

How long do these take to make?

JoyVoltenburg 03-14-2011 09:25 AM

beautiful. Love these! would like to know how you make these?

aorlflood 03-14-2011 09:28 AM

OMG! Wow! Just WOW! I've never seen anything like that! Beautiful work!

RedGarnet222 03-14-2011 09:39 AM

Wow Such talent! I have one. I gave the other one away to my sister that was a little basket with a lid that had raffia accents on it. It was from the toyobe national forrest gift shop some thirty years ago. A little one about seven inches around was thirty dollars way back then. It is amazing the precision these are made with!

Museum quality work... Just beautiful.

rannyof3 03-14-2011 10:08 AM

I used to do that years ago, but actually got rid of all my pine needles about 4 years ago. Your work is BEAUTIFUL.....

Matilda 03-14-2011 03:44 PM

These baskets are so incredibly gorgeous and I LOVE the antler handles. You should be able to sell these easily and get a good price for them. They are very lovely. Thanks for sharing.

They are awesome. I really like the antler handles.

Betty K 03-14-2011 04:59 PM

Fabulous work - very clever to use the antlers for a handle. Love those.
I like your pic too - I have a 74 lb yellow lab that sleeps with us. Luckily we have a king sz bed & the 54 lb basset is too short to get upn there too. ;)

Ziva 03-14-2011 05:15 PM

WOW! How creative and beautiful! Love them!

earthwalker 03-14-2011 05:23 PM

They are lovely. Whilst the materials are natural your baskets have a quite sleek contemporary look...a lot of woven baskets have a more rustic look, I like that too, but yours could look great in a modern interior.

booklady 03-14-2011 05:48 PM

Our Art teacher did these with her class one year. These look great.

butterflies5518 03-14-2011 06:04 PM

When my grandmother died, I claimed her oval pine needle sewing basket with beads on top. It holds lovely memories for me. Inside the basket are her sterling silver thimble, buttonhole scissors, and her monogrammed sterling silver tatting shuttle.

One day I'd like to tackle making a pine needle basket of my own.

JoanneS 03-15-2011 10:33 AM

Your baskets are BEAUTIFUL! The horns are the perfect artistic, earthy touch. How can I sign up for your gift list?!

raedar63 03-15-2011 10:40 AM

I contacted my brother in fla, trying to convince him to send me a bunch of pine needles. It is a no go :(

I did want to let you all know that he said they sell these needles by the bale for a few bucks each for landscaping . So if you are south you can start a new project LOL.

Calico Grammy 03-15-2011 11:00 AM

These are gorgeous!

alageeps 03-15-2011 01:22 PM
