I've had a couple of pm's about this, so thought I'd post a couple of pictures-mostly I give them away as gifts, so I never have many around. . .but here's what I have on hand this morning: (I love using antlers for handles if I can get them)
pudding stone from Drummond Island, MI as base |
OMG They are beautiful!! I LOVE the rustic look!! Did you take a class or have a book on how to do them?
Took a one day class-was a dismal failure-just needed a lot of practice!!!
Lovely work. I've tried it with the very long needles from trees in Yosemite Valley, took a long time to finish, but wasn't as nice as yours. You did a very good job on this, the deer anthers were a nice touch I've never seen before. I have seen some with reddish polished Buck Brush handles from the high Sierras, but those were Indian made.

Those are beautiful. Great work. The handles are wonderful.

I love them. I took a class on chair caning once. Didn't really like it. Is this similar?

Awesome!!!
I love these! Clever use of natural resources that would otherwise be thrown away.
Hi,
Your baskets are amazing. Where did you take the class? What do you use to weave the needles? I may have some deer antlers for you. My husband uses them to turn pens. The small ones don't work for him. |
Pm me if you are interested in selling with price info!!!!
Nice and rustic, love the look. I couldn't make myself use one except for decoration. The horn handles are just so neat looking.
They are stunning!! PM me as well if you sell them, with pricing info.
Those are so cool. Love them.
again I agree with all those are extremely beautiful. The beauty is no two will ever be the same. Nice job.
Hi! The pine needles come from Florida or North Carolina (Georgia, too, I hear). Since my sister no longer lives in NC, these came from Florida via ebay! They are fairly reasonable- a couple of pounds make a lot of baskets.
Thanks for asking! Linda |
So glad you posted! Those are fantastic!
wow, so neat! love em!
I have always admired pine needle baskets for the intricate work. Yours are exceptional with the stone base and the antler handles. Wonderful!

Wow. Just lovely. Be sure to keep some for yourself.
These are beautiful. I love pine needle baskets and am in awe of people that make them. I weave baskets from grapevines. Much bigger materials and I would imagine faster to create.
