I have been working on Pearly or a week now, using many of the ideas from the board. With a special "thank you" to Billy and all his advice----here is Pearly------I just want her time with me to be a good one.

Billy told about a paint stick he got at Hobby Lobby. I got it at Walmart and did several light coats with overnight dryiing between and the waxed the machine with car wax,

Yes, Pearl looks good as new with her new paint job, but I have a question, does she work?

Absolutely! Once I got her cleaned up, oiled and greased---(and bobbin loose from rust)-she purrs......such a nice even straight stitch. I just love these machines.....

We have a hen I named "Pitiful Pearl" because she has what looks to be a ruptured crop and it looks somewhat like a large goiter. She was always kind of shunned by the other hens and so was a loner. Funny thing is, she is now about five years old, still lays an egg about three times a week, ( she lays green eggs, so we know they are hers), and the rest of that original flock are all gone but one other.
I agree with Murphy and you did an awesome job making her respectable.

Good job. Pearly looks happy now.

redpurselady 06-29-2011 05:53 AM

She's definitely not Pitiful anymore - you did a great job!!

What paint stick did you use? I have a FW that needs a few touchups on the base here and there where the paint has chipped off.

You're probably too young to remember the Pitiful Pearl doll, I bet! But I've always loved the name.

I always wanted one of those dolls---I just loved her sad little face. So when I got this machine that's what I said she looked like when I pulled her out of the box!
