Please give me a push to finish this one!

I have really gotten in over my head on this project. Only bought my first sewing machine in November and then foolishly charged right into something that I had no idea would be this difficult! The quilt police I hear you all speak of would have a field day with my points and seams. But... I only have three more star things to go and then some easy borders. This will be my first experience with hand quilting too. Despite some pretty glaring flaws it is kind of pretty :) My seven year old will love it anyway:cool: Thanks for looking, I am learning a lot from this board!

Sorry meant to say "Please" in the title. When I am tired apparently I make up my own language. Argh! and I can not figure out how to edit the title.

I think its beautiful. Love the fabrics you used!!

DebraK 06-15-2013 04:54 PM

it's very pretty. trial by fire. if you still want to quilt after this, then all is well. finish up and move on to something fun ;-)

quiltsRfun 06-15-2013 05:01 PM

I don't see a thing wrong with it. You're too hard on yourself. This will be a gorgeous quilt. Is that encouragement enough?

Susan7639 06-15-2013 05:05 PM

I think I love you! My husband totally does.not.get.it. But then you probably won't find me out on the riding mover with a cigar in my mouth and my top off either. (his hobby)

tealfalcon 06-15-2013 05:06 PM

I think its beautiful. ...what is the pattern name?

Looks lovely to me. You sure picked a difficult looking one, but it looks great! Keep going.. just like anything else, it gets better with practice.

nwshannon 06-15-2013 05:25 PM

That's impressive! I don't think you were foolish at all...

Jingle 06-15-2013 05:30 PM

Looks great to me, just keep going. We are our worse critics.

Welcome to this wonderful board.

Judith1005 06-15-2013 05:32 PM

This is definitely not a beginner pattern. But I think you have done a wonderful job persevering on through to the end. Looks like you've learned a lot. You used some beautiful fabrics. And the best compliment of all, your seven year old is going to love it. They will not be looking for perfect. They will know how much you love them to make this beauty for them. I like it! :)

Grandma Peg 06-15-2013 05:57 PM

Wow, that is a beautiful quilt and especially for your first one.

BeckyB 06-15-2013 06:03 PM

You have more moxie (The ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage) than myself!! It looks absolutely beautiful!!!

serenitybygrace 06-15-2013 06:04 PM

You did a wonderful job on this quilt. Congratulations!

Clueless Quilter 06-15-2013 06:08 PM

You did a wonderful job when choosing your fabrics and with the placement of them. Looks like you did a lot of fussy cutting on them as well. I think your top is gorgeous.

cathyvv 06-15-2013 06:14 PM

You really did pick a tough one to start your quilting career! But I'm sure it has taught you so much in the process, that you will love it forever. I made a sort of quilt for my grandson when he was 7. It is one of my favorites because I both discovered and learned so much! But if you look at it as critically as I do, it stinks!

Your blocks look super and I can't see anything wrong with it. About 6 months after you're done with it, you will look at it and see it's true beauty. Then you will be able to really enjoy it.

erstan947 06-15-2013 06:33 PM

I only make "safety" quilts.......no sharp points!:) Beautiful quilt and job well done:thumbup:

ailene 06-15-2013 06:39 PM

I am not a beginner and it would have been difficult to make a beautiful quilt such as this. I love the colors and the pattern in it. Keep on going, I have a feeling you are going to be an expert at quilting before too long.

zzmom 06-15-2013 06:43 PM

That is beautiful! Keep on sewing, your doing great!

canuckninepatch 06-15-2013 06:43 PM

Fantastic job! Keep up the great work!

alikat110 06-15-2013 06:46 PM

You are doing fantastic and you're perseverance will be well worth it!

Susan7639 06-15-2013 06:49 PM

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I drew the seam allowance on each side of each piece with a pencil that is how rookie I am but I couldn't figure out how to do a y seam without the marks. You all have made my day!!!

spartan quilter 06-15-2013 07:06 PM

I think that quilt is just beautiful. A hard looking pattern to my eye, and you made it. Don't let the difficulty of this quilt stop you. In fact, having done this quilt, you now know that you can do ANYTHING!!!! Go for it.

LJDay 06-15-2013 07:08 PM

I think your quilt is beautiful and you did a GREAT job!!!

Grace creates 06-15-2013 07:32 PM

maryb119 06-15-2013 07:47 PM

I think it looks perfect! Keep on going and finish it. You will be glad you stuck with it.

DebbE 06-15-2013 08:38 PM

Be proud of yourself - its a great quilt! Your daughter will adore it because its a cute quilt and because you made it, which is the important thing! Great job!

craftynell 06-15-2013 09:24 PM

Beautiful quilt. Good job.

djmat 06-15-2013 11:08 PM

wowser, great first quilt, you've got talent!

JuneBillie 06-15-2013 11:11 PM

WOW!! I have my own taste, so I have to say, this is one of the prettiest quilts I have seen in a long time. I love how you used the prints together, and lighter on the outside of each. Did you go by a pattern for this? If so, did it tell similar prints/colors to use? I love the print between them all, and the border around the quilt. I am not a big fan of anything that looks to busy with patterns/colors, but yours somehow just flows so nicely, and is calming to look at. It gives me the illusion of delicate, pretty, lacey, but so interesting.

earthwalker 06-15-2013 11:16 PM

What a beauty.....great fabrics, you have put them together really well....if this is your starting quilt...my goodness we are in for a treat with your next......

liking quilting 06-16-2013 03:29 AM

Great job; I don't think you made any mistakes!

HillCountryGal 06-16-2013 04:33 AM

Whoa! This is beautiful!!!
Love the fabric and your work.

jpmaroni 06-16-2013 04:35 AM

Wow, very intricate looking.

Scraplady 06-16-2013 04:44 AM

Kind of Pretty??!! It's awesome. You're off to such a good start, you should be proud of yourself.

Now, raise your right hand and repeat as necessary: There is no such thing as the quilt police. There is no such thing...

Quilter 65 06-16-2013 05:08 AM

I have sewn all my life and quilted only a year and a half and that looks plain hard to me!! You did a great job. The colors are so beautiful and the fabrics work so well together. Repeat after me....."I will not be so critical of my work...". You will be so proud of yourself and your daughter will love it. Congratulations.

lue 06-16-2013 05:22 AM

WOW! I don't think the quilt police will have a thing to say negatively about this one! Talk about jumping in!! It's lovely!!

mom-6 06-16-2013 05:28 AM

Congratulations on doing a beautiful job on a lovely quilt! Keep up the good work.
