PLEASE VOTE - Which Escher Steps Pattern is best?

4 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I am making this quilt for some very special - my DH, and when I ask him which pattern he likes the best he just smiles and says they are all wonderful. So I am here looking for input - Please vote for #1, 2, 3 or 4 and what you like or don't like about it or the one you chose....

thanks!

I like no. 2. I see more of the background.

ruthrings 06-20-2013 06:16 AM

I also like #2. I like seeing the steps going in both directions.

thyme2quilt 06-20-2013 06:20 AM

I keep going back to #1. It seems to flow.

luvstoquilt 06-20-2013 06:34 AM

I like 2 and 4 best...

willferg 06-20-2013 06:39 AM

I like #1 best. It just works for me.

DebraK 06-20-2013 06:42 AM

number 1 or 3

Ann912 06-20-2013 06:48 AM

I like #2.

chips88 06-20-2013 06:53 AM

i also like number 2 looking good

Jingle 06-20-2013 06:53 AM

I like #2.

Ninnie 06-20-2013 06:55 AM

i like #1 i think it has a more calming effect

sue.ross.8782 06-20-2013 07:10 AM

I like #3, for reasons I c an't explain.

mighty 06-20-2013 07:16 AM

I like #1.

Terricat 06-20-2013 07:17 AM

Definitely #1 or #3. Just a thought ---what if you made the design larger, like only 4 x 5 squares instead of 5 x 6. Your pieces would be a little larger to work with.

The squares are actually 10X10 and the entire quilt will be 74X 68.

With #1 - I see the steps first - and for reasons I can't explain, I would like the steps to go from bottom left to top right.

With #3 - I see the backgrounds first, and the steps are secondary

I don't care for #2 or #4 - and I can't explain exactly why - maybe because it's because the steps resemble some other patterns, and it seems like a waste of a really unique design feature.

DebraK 06-20-2013 07:35 AM

perfect explanation. I agree with this. If it's the steps that you want to see, number one accomplishes that.

lillybeck 06-20-2013 07:41 AM

I keep going back to one. They are all great but there is something that catches my eye on one

frenchfryqueen 06-20-2013 07:53 AM

I like #3 the best. It flows well, but your eyes don't get bored as they would in #1. All of them would be lovely, though.

SewCraftyGirl 06-20-2013 07:54 AM

I like 1 the best. The steps jump out at me. (For 3, the steps don't jump out.... they are secondary).

I don't like 2 or 4 as much. They make my head spin. LOL

crafty pat 06-20-2013 07:58 AM

I like #1 best. #2 is beautiful but a little to busy for my taste.

Kitsie 06-20-2013 08:27 AM

Number 1, for me also! Terrific design! Please show us as you proceed!!

tessagin 06-20-2013 08:32 AM

2+4 best. Different.

lynnie 06-20-2013 08:52 AM

I vote for number 2

QuiltnNan 06-20-2013 09:10 AM

i vote for #2

grammysharon 06-20-2013 09:21 AM

I prefer #4, just like the movement in the piece!

bjchad 06-20-2013 09:25 AM

Either of these are fine but I think it would make it more interesting if you did more a more random arrangement as if the flights were wandering up and down and back and forth..

spartan quilter 06-20-2013 09:44 AM

I love all of them, but now I will throw you another suggestion and why. I like 2 & 4, because the eye goes to the center of the quilt and not off the edge. Now for the curve, is it possible to coordinate the colors as they come down and back to the edge, to be blue in one area and gray in the other? Like what you did in picture 3. Just what you needed, another layout. Lol. That is going to be one gorgeous quilt, however you put it together.

mom-6 06-20-2013 09:44 AM

I like #4 best, but also like the idea suggesting random steps. Would have to see that though.

Halo 06-20-2013 09:52 AM

I vote for #1 or #3, but #1 is the one that stands out more for me. To me the steps just flow better in #1. It will be beautiful no matter what you chose.

Jo M 06-20-2013 09:58 AM

My first choice would be #1....then #3.

RainydayQuilter 06-20-2013 09:58 AM

I like numbers 2 and 4. Good luck choosing.

hopetoquilt 06-20-2013 10:04 AM

#1 is perfect. Love the colors and look of steps

Misty's Mom 06-20-2013 10:07 AM

I like 1 and 3 best. 2 and 4 hurt my eyes.

MYWR 06-20-2013 10:09 AM

I like #3 and my second choice is #1 I think they both ]have more of the M C Escher feel
Love your color choices

shogan7295 06-20-2013 10:16 AM

I like #1 best because it gives more of the true MC Escher effect. The others are great designs, but I think they lose some of the stairstep and more focus is on the X design, but not looking as 3-D as Escher's work.

EvelynJ 06-20-2013 10:49 AM

Wow, all are great but I like #4 the best.

tuckyquilter 06-20-2013 10:53 AM

I like #1 - although all are terrific. Very good use of HST. I may copy this quilt. This pattern would make a great Quilt of Valor.

JudyMN 06-20-2013 12:50 PM

I like #1 best.

frustratedquilter40 06-20-2013 12:51 PM

I really like #2 and #4. They pull your eyes in too me it has more movement than the others.
