Pointless quilt

1 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
This is another of my UFO's finished....better done than perfect on this one for sure!
I started it a long time ago, in a hurry, inexperienced, and made some bad choices. It lingered in a box for quite a few years....
I am calling it "Pointless to Worry over Troubled Waters" because it has lots of missing points, mismatched seams, and the fabric that looks kind of like watered silk has the watered design going every which way in the blocks.Since it was kind of a hot mess already, I decided to try a scalloped border on it.. Overall, it's ok....

The goofs you describe can't be seen in the picture, and I think it's a beautiful quilt!

Mary Christine 03-27-2020 05:14 PM

I love it!

jmoore 03-28-2020 03:44 AM

Nice finish...I’m sure it feels good to have it done and I’ll bet you learned a few things along the way. Only you will know the mistakes. : )

Karamarie 03-28-2020 04:12 AM

It looks good from here. Think of the lessons you have learned from it.

Thanks, it does feel good to have it done. I had a friend I worked with who was with me when I bought the fabric. She is not a quilter and kept asking if it was finished. She finally stopped asking!
I certainly did learn a few things along the way as you say.
I do think anyone who sees it in real life would certainly see the mistakes, but I don't care! I'm glad it's done!

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts and compliments!

my-ty 03-28-2020 05:18 AM

Congrats on a great finish. Nothing like our first quilt to remind us of the progress we have made in our quilting journey.

luvstoquilt 03-28-2020 05:42 AM

It is really pretty and I love the scalloped border.

sylviasmom 03-28-2020 05:48 AM

There were missing points? I really liked the way you placed the light colors in the middle, dark on the sides. It is very interesting the way the small blocks have borders, making them stand out. That is what I first noticed. It is a beautiful quilt.

Mumto2 03-28-2020 08:05 AM

Can’t see any mistakes in the photo! It’s a pretty quilt!

nativetexan 03-28-2020 08:26 AM

That is so pretty!! i love scalloped border. I need to do one soon, it's been much too long.

RuthiesRetreat3 03-28-2020 09:37 AM

I like the 'every which way' flow. And I think you did a really fine job. I'd be proud if it were mine.

Plee1053 03-28-2020 09:47 AM

I love it!

SusieQOH 03-28-2020 10:23 AM

That's a beauty! I love your use of color.
I don't see a thing wrong with it,either.

SewingSenior 03-28-2020 11:52 AM

Beautiful quilt, the colors are perfect. I wish my mistakes would come out looking this good. Great job.

SuzzyQ 03-29-2020 02:23 AM

I think it is gorgeous! We are our own worst critics. And think of everything you learned.

Homespun 03-29-2020 06:01 AM

It is a lovely quilt and finished!!!

Rose Burnett 03-29-2020 05:46 PM

It seems fine to me. No one else will notice the things you dislike about it.

judyyoungs 04-03-2020 05:41 PM

oksewglad 04-04-2020 11:12 AM

It doesn't look like a "hot mess" from here. Love that you decided to try something new with the border. You have some good memories with this quilt!

Taughtby Grandma 04-04-2020 02:38 PM

I think this is a very interesting pattern. I like your scalloped border as well.

sunny72 04-07-2020 07:56 AM

Looks great to me. Doesn't it feel wonderful to get a UFO done...especially if it is one you don't really like.

Yes it does!

Vasilisa 04-08-2020 01:49 AM

It is a beautiful quilt and I am sure it will be enjoyed by the recipient.

marshaKay 04-08-2020 06:47 AM

Me thinks, you are your worst critic. I absolutely love this quilt! I see nothing wrong with it. It is prefect in every way. Take a breath and embrace the process and enjoy the warmth of the finished product. Which by the way, is glorious!!!!!
