I found this at the thrift store tonight and I wasn't gonna get it even though it looked so sad sitting there for $2.99 My 6 year old daughter said "but mom it's so soft! You would be sad if one of your quilts ended up here. Lets take it home and love it" And so we did! It just makes me wonder who sat there all that time making it only for it to get sent to the thrift store :( It's so pretty!

It is pretty and it will look so nice thrown over a chair back during the holidays. Nice save!
cute, and your daughter sounds so sweet:)
So sad that they couldn't find a child to give it to. It was probably the wrong color for the room or house so out it went. Very sad, but now you have a lovely quilt to love as your daughter said.

you got a great deal for $2.99. =)
It's a darling quilt. Your daughter thinks just like us. She is a quilter in the making.
All it needed was a little love.
Oh I love it...a rescued quilt! Very nice and glad it went to a nice home.
Great save .....

It's so cute. Sounds like you have a wonderful daughter. Isn't it amazing how smart children can be!

I love your daughter, what a thoughtful child, The quilt has a lot of life left in it. Thanks for sharing.
I am so happy you rescued it, I just love going to the thrift stores, Goodwill stores, used book stores.

It is pretty. Nice find!
Sweet!
Is it flannel? It does look soft.
Thanks everyone! Yes, she is a wonderful little lady! We were at the thrift store looking to see if they had a little machine she could learn to sew on cuz she wants to make a quilt so that was really cute. It's actually cotton woven and has a really nice print fabric on the back too so it wasn't made cheaply like I make mine LOL.
It is super soft! I washed it and was just sitting watching tv and knitting with it on my lap. it is super comfy! It's nice because all the quilts I've made so far I've given away so now I have one for me! I feel like someone out there made this for me LOL |
A treasure!

Your DD is indeed .......... a Dear!

It's a very pretty quilt. Lucky for you.
Oh Mama, what a lovely little girl you have, such a sweetheart! The quilt will mean so much more to you with such a sweet story to go with it.
Quilts deserve to be rescued. Nice quilt & sweet daughter.
I'm so glad you rescued it. I've done the same thing a couple of times. Just because I know how much goes into making these.
your daughter already has the heart of a quilter. it's like seeing a nice quilt used to wrap furniture on the back of a pickup when someone is moving, and it flaps in the wind. or you make a nice quilt for a child and then see the family dog with it
I would have given it a home too. Your DD knows how quilts should be treated.
Your daughter has great empathy---you should be so proud.
I remember going to a garage sale and seeing a simple Christmas Wall Hanging. Like yours, it was uncomplicated and mostly just green and red blocks. You can imagine my shock  when the garage sale lady said, "Oh, my MIL made that for us....." Like you, I bought it and gave it a good home. |
A born "rescuer", very sweet story and the quilt is delightful - good "save".
Your 6 year old has much insight on what you do and how you feel about it! She deserves a {hug}

Your daughter certainly has a quilter's heart! I often see family pictures at flea markets and a "junk" store in town and feel so sad for the people in the pics. It's like, why aren't they wanted anymore. I hope my pics and quilts never end up that way!

Your daughter has a quilter's heart!
Nice find, can't have it being alone!

I think your daughter is wonderful! What a kind soul for a six year old. :)
You did the right thing giving it a home. I once passed up on a little quilt in a thrift store, and I've regretted it ever since.
Great find, you could add a few appliques to it and give it new life.
Have a blessed day Ellen |
You've taught your 6 yr old well.
You have a very loving child.
