Hello everyone - here's my latest One Block Wonder using the technique from the books by Maxine Rosenthal. This kind of turned into a giant bookmark during the design process - I'm even thinking of getting a tassel for the point! It measures 30" across and 60" from top to tip. The original fabric is in the top panel - I love this fabric! I had 4 repeats over so I made some QST kaleidoscopes but haven't decided how to set them yet!
I also was a bit braver with my FMQ and went for contrasting threads - purple centres and red flowers - to echo the poppies. Thanks for looking! :-D original fabric in top panel close up and FMQ |
That is really pretty, wonderful job.

wow! it is just lovely!
|
It's lovely, always amazes me how different they come out compared to the original fabric. I agree with you, it needs a tassle on the end.
|
I love your OBW. the fabric is beautiful. Great job!
|
Beautiful job on the blocks and the quilting! What size are the blocks? They look very small.
|
Lovely! Beautiful fabric, I love that shape, and the bit of original fabric across the top.
The fmq poppies are just the ticket in the borders! |
Its really pretty!

Thank you everyone - I'd have to go measure to be sure but I think the strips were about 2 1/2", pocoellie.
|
WOW!!! You are such an artist! What a beautiful OBW Kathryn!!
|
What size were your hexagons? Are they smaller than normal? What a beautiful piece--the colors are so rich.

Yay is that a beauty. I do love the dripping-down sort of movement from poppies on top to the point... can see a tassel to finish it all right! Thanks for sharing.

It's beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing. I have a somewhat better understanding of OMW from your close ups and the uncut fabric.

That is beautiful!
Looking at everyone's OBW's makes me think of trying one... |

Just beautiful and poppies are my favorite. I wish I could grow them, but they never make it. At lease I can have it in fabric
