THey are 9" x 9" and I only used one layer of wool and have found it to be perfectly adequate - but it was a thick sweater.

Know what you mean Joannl! Everytime I think I can get off the puter and go to bed I go back to my In Box and have to start all over again!! :D But everyone has such great ideas that I hate to miss any of them!!!

Love the pot holders. I want to make some eventually. Hope they come out as nice as yours.

Cathe, they look great! That reminds me that my mom wanted me to make some potholders for her. Hope they turn out as great as yours. :)

Years ago I was into clothing construction and I made lots of sweater-type things out of cotton knits....I had a good sized piece left over from one project so I made a couple potholders to take camping.........they never left the kitchen! The were (and are) the best potholders I've ever had. They are STILL in the wash every week and I hate that they are looking sooooo bad but they are such good ones I hate to discard them. I've long since gotten rid of the cotton knits I once had piles of and I'm so sorry I did. Your potholders are great and appeal to both my "scrappy" preference and my love of the kitchen, cooking, baking. Thanks for sharing.

You did such a good job. I always have trouble with the binding. I hate binding. sometimes I sew right sides together then turn, just so I don't have to do binding.

These are great! I have all kinds of scraps of cotton batting left over from other projects, and I think that would work well, too. And what a great machine quilting project for us beginners who are intimidated by the whole process, because they're small enough to manipulate!
