PP Ponderosa Forest with FMQ-2 DONE So Far

4 Attachment(s)
Here are a couple of Christmas wall hangings I finished last night. They are loosely based on the Jeweled Forest design, but my own pattern to look more like our local Ponderosa forests. This is my first PP project and it's been fun! Here's my first post when I got some of them pieced http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...t-t169218.html

I FMQ'd them using metalic thread; another first for me. I'm experimenting with a few different brands of metalic thread to see what my machine likes best. So far, the Superior metalics are in the lead.

These are pics of 2 of the smaller ones. The center panel in these was PP on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of freezer paper.

I'm liking the way my "Ponderosa Forest" is turning out, and have several more quilt and finish yet.

Enjoy!

Beautiful. I would love to try some freemotion feathers. Maybe something this size would be a good place to start. Hmmm. I might just try this. Thanks for the inspiration!

Judy, It's a good idea to start with some small practice pieces for sure. Fitting these tiny feathers in these pieces where I wanted them was a bit challenging, but fun all the same. You might have a better time trying out feathers on something like these FMQ mug rugs I made awhile back. The size is really easy to handle and you can make more "normal" sized feathers without worrying about having to stay in such a small space. Good luck and have fun with it, whatever you decide to try!
