Hello all! I recently got into paper piecing (with amma's help!) and made few animal blocks, which then turned into this lappy for a little boy I know in England. The blocks are 6" finished and the quilt is 42" square. It has to be quilted yet but my batting only just came in the post so it's hanging up to get the creases out. It's for Christmas so I'm WAY ahead for once!  I'll put up a few of the blocks that I didn't show before as well. :D

Thank you for the site, I spent too much time on it.

Someday I will get enough courage to try paper piecing.

Iluv2quilt 09-28-2009 10:21 AM

All I can say is WOW! I love your quilt! The castle is perfect and so are all the others! Isn't paper piecing fun? So many possiblities. :D

pennyswings 09-28-2009 10:44 AM

K you did a great job on the paper piecing. I haven't tried that yet. The quilt came out so cute. I am sure the little boy you are sending it to will love it. The colors are perfect!

k3n 09-28-2009 11:20 AM

Thanks all - I don't know about a pro though! :?

Ducky 09-28-2009 11:29 AM

K, that is so very sweet!!!! You're doing such a great job, you put me to shame.

I'm still trying to finish my Dear Jane blocks. I was cutting the 1/4 seam on one of the blocks and ended up cutting through the whole #$%# thing!!! Bad words were emitted from this mouth!

Oh no not sweet little Ducksta using bad words? I don't believe it!  But I know what you mean - I came close to doing that once or twice but just stopped myself in time. I've been looking at Suzi46's PP blocks and think I'll try something a little more sophisticated next. :D

Mousie 09-28-2009 03:04 PM

I'm definitely gonna have to do a paper pieced quilt or project some time in the next...umm, in a bit

I'm thinking I'll machine quilt it so it's more durable. Any ideas? Bearing in mind I'm a complete novice and my SITD is, well NOT in the ditch!

Hello - thought I'd show this here rather than start another thread - it's done!!! How good am I - a Christmas present in the bag and it's only just October!

I used Warm and Natural wadding and machine quilted through the sashing and diagonally across the blue gingham blocks then did some FMQ 'scribble' in the border. Backed with red gingham - looks like a table cloth in an Italian restaurant but it's bright and cheery! :D

sandpat 10-02-2009 04:59 AM

Oh K....its fabulous!! I love it...AND I really like that little sunflower quilt in the background....whats the scoop on that???? Inquiring minds want to know...

amma 10-02-2009 05:18 AM

Awww....that is soooo adorable!!!! It does not even vaguely resemble a table cloth  he is going to love it :D :D :D

Karenmay 10-02-2009 05:40 AM

He'll love it...Its gorgeous! You've got me wanting to do some more pp'ing!

I did that a few years ago - I copied the idea from a magazine and worked it out in Quilt Wizard, it's all squares and triangles with 3D flowers appliquéd on and French knots in the centre of the big one. Here's a pic. It was hand pieced and quilted BTW - in the days when I used to finish one project at a time!

k3n 10-02-2009 06:18 AM

edited to remove double post!
