I sort of warped this baby outta shape and they aren't perfect, but I still am excited, look at my feathers! Lol* :)

jmabby 08-18-2011 07:06 AM

That is really nice, I still haven't taken that step. Good for you!!

laughingquilter 08-18-2011 07:11 AM

I'm not "there" yet but I have great respect for anyone who can do any kind of free motion quilting. They look just beautiful to me!

lheartsl 08-18-2011 07:30 AM

Look great... I woudn't even know where to start to do them!
I have just been "brave" enough..... to fhq.......

paulswalia 08-18-2011 07:30 AM

I am also trying feathers for the first time!!! I don't dare do them free hand just yet, but last night used a stencil and marked feathers onto some wash away stabilizer then pinned it to my border, stiched the feather using the stabilizer as my marking and hope that when I'm done I can just wash away the stabilizer. Say a prayer for me!

LoisN 08-18-2011 07:32 AM

Love your feathers. Great job!

pumpkinpatchquilter 08-18-2011 07:47 AM

Thank you very much! Even though they aren't perfect I'm really excited that I gave it a try. I like the way it looks all together because you don't really notice the mistakes unless you look close...yay!

labug 08-18-2011 07:47 AM

Great job!

debcavan 08-18-2011 08:05 AM

You are so brave. I did my practice feathers in very fussy fabrics so they wouldn't show. But your look great. Congrats on your feathers. They are my favorite thing to do and to see. They just make me happy.

Motorcyclemad 08-18-2011 08:08 AM

You are getting pretty good at this! Keep up the good work!

I have a practice piece all sandwiched to practice feathers on as soon DGGS goes to sleep this afternoon! Good luck to all of us 1st timers. I know I need it.

Your practicing looks great! Did you do this on a LA or DSM?

Thank you! I only wish I had a long arm! This was done on my domestic machine, a simplicity I've had for several years now.

greencat 08-18-2011 11:26 AM

Your feathers look great! Good for you for trying these out!

bamamama 08-18-2011 11:33 AM

Lookin good! Drawing them first will help too. I practiced on paper for a long time, that way you build up the muscle memory.
