This was a project chosen by my quilt group, and took me 1 year to finish the top. I set it aside many times, but finally came back long enough to get it done

That's one of my all time favorite sampler quilts! The blocks, colors and fabrics are all so diverse and interesting and work together so well. I love the pieced border, it adds the perfect finishing touch.

I don't usually care for sampler quilts but I must agree that this is the nicest one I've seen. Great job and congrats on finishing it.

Ditto what dhanke said. Color choices are outstanding as is the placement of the blocks. Love that pieced border - like icing on a cake - perfect finish. Beautiful.

Hi. I'm pretty new to quilting but I really like the sampler. Could you kindly direct me to get a copy of the patterns for the blocks? Appreciate it lots. :)

By the way, can I do the quilt using the quilt-as-you-go method?

Becca Bear 05-26-2011 09:47 PM

You quilt is beautifully done-so bright and could spend hours gazing at it and still not seeing all there is. Love the way you did your border..

The pattern is Prairie Sampler: A Sampler Quilt, by Lori Smith from Quilt Designs by Lori Smith

Not sure about the quilt as you go, since you would have to change the measurements of the sashing pieces. Might be possible. I have my own quilting machine, and do "sort of okay" work, but will have this one professionally quilted.

LoriEl 05-27-2011 02:43 AM

Absolutely stunning! You should give yourself a pat on the back for that. Love your colors. Is this a Kansas Troubles quilt pattern and fabrics?
