I have given all my quilts as gifts. I found some boxes but that gets expensive so my new way is to just wrap them in a pretty ribbon. Does anybody have any other ideas?

Great Idea!!

This is a great idea, looks very pretty!

Very Nice Idea!

I like your idea. They look very pretty. I've always made a pillow case from the same or co-ordinating fabric to use as a gift or storage bag.

I like the ribbon idea. It makes them look very pretty.

I like your idea too. More and more when I wrap presents, I like to use tissue paper, white or colored, usually two layers, with some curly ribbon. I don't like all the waste that goes along with regular gift wrap. We can't recycle it here. Unfortunately, I can only find those small sheets (trifolded) of tissue. I like the way the present kind of peeks thru the opaque tissue wrap.

That is a great idea. I like it. Yes boxes can be expensive and especially if you have to mail it to some one. A couple of yesrs ago we gave Mom a 19" flat screen tv for her bedroom for her birthday and we didn't have any wrapping paper so I knew she needed a certain type of fabric and I had a few yards of fabric so we wrapped the tv in the fabric! So it was like 2 gifts in one type of thing. Now that wasd pretty cleaver too. Have a great dsay, Huggies, Fay

Your pretty ribbons give the quilts such a festive look. Last quilt I made was for DGD who lives in CA. Wrapped it in double layers of colored tissue paper and tied it with curly ribbons and DS#3, her Dad, stuffed it into his suitcase on his last visit to us. Mailing it would have been expensive and, anyway, I didn't have a box or plastic envelope large enough for mailing. Saved time and money and DGD got her quilt ASAP. May in Jersey

Very pretty way to wrap, now can we see the beautiful quilts that are wrapped? From my little view, they look gorgeous!

Such a nice idea to wrap the quilt with pretty ribbon. Lets the quilt itself be the wrapping paper.
I made a quilt for my niece earlier this year for her baby shower. I made a gift bag out of left over fabric from the quilt. It served as a gift bag, can be used as a storage bag, or she could use it as a tote if she wanted to. Here's a picture. |
Beautiful idea!

I use a $1 gift bag from the dollar store.

When we gifted quilts to the nieces and nephews for Christmas, we made matching pillowcases and tucked the quilt (top) into the case. They got to keep the pillow and pillowcase while we finish the quilts. I think they all liked it.

Great ideas...... :-D

The local quilt guild's raffle quilt this year comes in a quilted bag with matching blocks. It is really stunning. They had a few extra blocks so they made them into the bag. That might be kind of a fun way of presenting your quilts. They can take the bag everywhere they go and remember you and your beautiful quilts.

I have a friend who wraps hers like you do but with the label up.
|
I either make a pillowcase or two for Queen size or a big stuff sack which is what I call those bags with the round bottom and draw string closure. I use my biggest pot lid (think preserving kettle) to trace a circle for the bottom and make the sides (diameter of circle X 3.14) for the length of the fabric needed. Most of my stuff sacks are then big enough for the quilt and a pillow. You then have your own nap time in a sack all packed ready to go. My kids like them especially for sleepovers.

That is a great idea to make a coordinating pillow case to package that. Anyway, the quilts as so beautiful, a bow is such a pretty addition. Can't find any paper that is any prettier than the quilts.
|
Ditto on all counts! Using more gift bags and less gift wrap all the time. (and of course recycling them. I think some of our family's Christmas bags have been used for at least 5 yrs!)
|
I uasally try to buy the round hat boxes when they are on sale really cheap. They have them at Burlington Coat Factory, Goody's and many other stores. It really looks nice and they have a neat box.
|
i would wrap gifts to big or cumbersom for boxes in clear cello, ad then a big cury ribbon on top to match color of gift inside, makes awesom presentation
|
i've also kade fabric gift bags, they are reusable, or even made a pillowcasr and wrapped in that

I just wrap 'em in ribbon, too.
|
If it's a special gift like a wedding - I buy a special hat box or rectangular box at Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby or where ever I can find them.
I don't like to use all that quilt fabric to make pillowcases, so I buy a pillowcase and applique on one spare block or make one out of scraps so it matches. But I do like the idea of the ribbon and yah I would probably wrap it in tissue just to hide it a little more. They do look festive! Cute idea. |
