That is teriffic to spend the time together and to give your daughter so much design input. Even better that you had all that fabric in your stash. Almost like making something out of nothing. You GO girls!

GGrammie 02-03-2011 03:40 AM

What a cutie pie.
And great idea for a quilt.

raedar63 02-03-2011 04:10 AM

How excited she looks! She will treasure this time with you ....

mcbride4362 02-03-2011 04:55 AM

Praises to you for involving your daughter like this. I love to hear about stories of mothers/gmothers involving children into this art of quilting. Can't wait to see the finished product.

grammynan 02-03-2011 05:10 AM

Looks like a plan!! Have fun!

luvstoquilt301 02-03-2011 05:22 AM

The "designer" did a great job  It's going to be a real winner!!

DebbieJJ 02-03-2011 06:01 AM

Beautiful daughter, will be a beautiful quilt!

Bonbonary 02-03-2011 06:04 AM

She's so cute. Not only will she be a quilter one of these days but a great designer, too.

conniebrooks 02-03-2011 06:22 AM

Can't wait to see the finished quilt. Your daughter did a great job designing it. Is she for hire? ha ha

Lady Jane 02-03-2011 07:12 AM

There you go , another future quilter !

dinlauren 02-03-2011 07:26 AM

What a great adventure you and your daughter are embarking on. Have fun!!!

dunster 02-03-2011 07:28 AM

You have a talented quilter in the making.

illinois 02-03-2011 07:45 AM

The colors and fabrics look great. Have fun. There is a tutorial on cutting triangles that make, making pinwheels easier.[/quote]

Where is that tutorial? I'm used to making them with drawing the diagonal line, sewing 1/4" either side and cutting them apart. There is a way to do it with the tube but that leaves bias on the edges. Does anyone have experience with doing it that way and is there a problem with the bias?

Ditter43 02-03-2011 07:50 AM

 :D  I'll be watching for updates!!!

tadpoles_62 02-03-2011 08:36 AM

Darling daughter, nice that she is designing her own quilts so young, she did a great job. Can't wait to see the completed project.

sewnserge 02-03-2011 09:07 AM

Wow. I am a newbie -- and have learned something awesome!! I am gonna invest in graph paper, start thinking and designing, and then gather my fabrics. Looks so simple, so straight forward -- too bad I didn't think of it!!! Happy cutting, piecing, and all!!!

FarmStitcher 02-03-2011 09:44 AM

Beautiful little girl and she's starting out right, with quilts! Sweet, bright and perky one to snuggle under on cold days or nights. Great job!

sewwhat85 02-03-2011 09:49 AM

that is so precious

karenm36 02-03-2011 09:52 AM

Oh, that's going to be so much fun!! I can hardly wait until my DGD is old enough to design one as well and help with the process!

Marvel 02-03-2011 09:52 AM

A new quilter always needs some encouragement. Your daughter looks like she has been a watcher and now is more than ready to be a doer. Her color sketch shows a good eye for design and color

Scrap Happy 02-03-2011 10:08 AM

Oh goodie another budding young quilter! I love the fabrics you've chosen. Looking forward to seeing it's progress :)

Leota 02-03-2011 10:08 AM

OH that's going to be pretty!!!!

JeanDal 02-03-2011 10:19 AM

JoyjoyMarie 02-03-2011 11:29 AM

Terrific! How lucky for both of you to get to work on this great project together. We'll be looking forward to seeing the finished project!!

jme 02-03-2011 12:50 PM

That's going to be really pretty. She did a good job designing it.

Quilting Nana 02-03-2011 01:11 PM

Looking forward to pic as you go. Looks like a new quilter is born. She also is a good designer.

DeeBooper 02-03-2011 01:56 PM

That is so nice. I am still waiting for my granddaughter to come so I can teach her to quilt. She got a new machine for Christmas but never has time to sew. She is so busy with her school activities, even on the weekend. Enjoy!!!!

DoxieMom 02-03-2011 02:53 PM

Your daughter is lovely and it looks like her quilt will be too! So glad she's involved in its creation--lucky her and lucky you! Looking forward to pictures of her and the quilt when it's completed!

NCquilter 02-03-2011 02:58 PM

Your quilt is gonna turn out really nice! Love the colors she has chosen!

Maurene 02-03-2011 03:33 PM

Hurray for Jayme, that's a great design, bet she'll appreciate the quilt even more for having participated in designing it!!

wraez 02-03-2011 03:52 PM

That is great, she is gonna love it especially since she got to choose colors and design.

Have you tried doing pinwheels the 'fast and easy way' tutorial on Youtube by Missouri Quilt Co? It is so easy and the points match up perfectly.

This would be a good one if your DD is going to help you.
This is a great way to make pinwheels! I made a top (needs sandwiched) and told my sister about it and she has made a couple too. Have fun!

judy_68 02-03-2011 04:25 PM

That will be nice
