It ends up that turning the iron off instead of relying on the automatic shutoff is very good advice.

I guess the good thing is that it already fell on the floor and cracked the water tank, so instead of trying to remove it, I might just throw it away.

Watch out for plastic bags to close to the ironing board also.:)

It could have beenl so much worse! Glad nothing caught fire!

I bet the burning plastic smelled really "great" -:( . Yepper I would be tossing them both too. No way to take a chance with this iron again.

Can you tell I am a worry wort? .... All I could think is: It is all fun and games until some one gets hurt, or You dodged a bullet here. But, really, I am so glad you are safe......
