I posted the EQ picture a while ago, so I guess it's time for a progress report. ;-)

I have had everything all cut out for this for a while now, and all of the hst are sewn together and pressed open. Now it's just a matter of working through block by block and putting it all together.

This is how far I've got.... this is the centre and the bottom row done. For an idea of size, the paper on the design wall is an A4 sheet with the IRR instructions printed out. So this is going to be a decent size when it's done!

The fabric in the centre star will also be a nice wide border around the whole lot.

No wonder it is taking you awhile! All those points would be enough to make me crazy.

It is going to be great when you finish. The colors are striking.

amazon 09-16-2009 06:48 PM

Absolutely stunning!! Can't wait to see it finished, please keep us posted. I love purples ,it's next on my list.

sandpat 09-16-2009 06:49 PM

I remember this one Blue and wondered what was happening. Its looking good so far and it looks like it will be a really nice size when done. I still like your fab choices really well!

Ms Grace 09-16-2009 06:50 PM

That's gorgeous!

BlueChicken 09-16-2009 06:50 PM

It's actually not too hard.... but I *am* taking my time and making sure everything lines up... which involves lots and lots of pins!

I'm loving the look, can't wait to see it done, and I'm already wondering how on earth I'm going to quilt it. So far I'm seing In The Ditch around the star outline, but I've got nothing after that.

Jim's Gem 09-16-2009 06:53 PM

That's going to be beautiful!! And in my favorite colors!

sewnsewer2 09-16-2009 07:07 PM

Iluv2quilt 09-16-2009 08:34 PM

Wow! You are doing beautiful work on this quilt! I love the colors and your points are perfect, can't wait to see the whole quilt!

Ninnie 09-16-2009 08:47 PM

Wow, Blue, that;'s beautiful and I love the material in the center, that will be so striking around the outside.!!
I also love the little finger painting in the corner! :D

The points are looking excellent.... not quite perfect, but the ARE pretty good I must admit. LOL 8)

The border fabric has no black in it, the dark dark bits are actually a really deep purple. I have a purple that matches that, a moda marble, so I'm planning on a thin border of that possibly, then a nice thick chunck of the mottled fabric.

All the bits in their piles waiting to be pieced together. It only takes about 15 minutes to put a square together.

The border fabric, I'm hoping the colours will show accurately in this!

My youngest did the painting at school, age 6, and said it was for my sewing room. Which was great. But of course, I'm not allowed to take it down now! LOL

SharonC 09-16-2009 09:12 PM

Love the colors and I think you are doing a great job on the points. I like the idea of a deep purple border with the mottled fabric following it.
p.s. Love your art work :) Aren't 6 y/o great?

BlueChicken 09-16-2009 09:16 PM

They are aren't they! :D

She's actually 7 now... but her and I went shopping the other day and I said to her "can you stay 7 cause this is a really cool age and you're very cute". And she replied "but mummy, I have to get older so I can have a job and get money and buy Singstar".

:?

Well I think 7 y/o can be super cool too :). My baby's turning 23 tomorrow (17th) and I can still look at him (squint a little) and see that 7 y/o :)

SulaBug 09-16-2009 10:37 PM

First of all, I want to say just how incredible Blues is,

the funny part is that I needed a quilt fast and I remembered seeing the design that she did a while back and thought it was a good one so I started it, to my surprise reading today, I found out that Blue was doing it as well. I was not going to post it, I did pm her that I was doing it and she said that she would like me to post it here and maybe work on it together, I am not sure if her time line is the same as mine, (I don't have my hst's done yet, working on them along the way) and for those that have been reading my posts know that I need to get it done like yesterday.

My DD had picked out some colors before deciding on this so I made sure that they are all going in, there are three blues, three greens and three reds. along with the white on white. so you can see the differences color makes in a quilt.

amma 09-16-2009 11:28 PM

Both of your quilts are stunning!!! The fabrics are beautiful and each look is awesome!!! Thank you for sharing with us!!! :D :D :D

It was so sweet Blue that your daughter made you such a lovely sewing room gift 8) 8) 8)

BlueChicken 09-16-2009 11:28 PM

:D

WOW! That looks stunning! It's amazing what a difference the change in colour makes!

This is so exciting.... but my time line is a LOT longer than yours LOL ;-)

cutebuns 09-16-2009 11:34 PM

thank you ladies, the difference is huge. we will have to see who finished first! lol I have the hst's done for the next bit and have to do some pressing, I might actually go to bed after that, maybe, I am hoping that the bells are going to be done that I am working on, it will be bell 5 and 6 off of the machine today, good thing that 2 fit in the hoop at once.

BlueChicken 09-17-2009 12:03 AM

I know who my money is on.... and it's not me! LMAO

I've just had dinner, might get a wee bit more done tonight with a bit of luck. :-)

gcathie 09-17-2009 12:33 AM

The border fabric is called "Daylight Fields" by Sue Beevers, put out by RJR Fabrics in 2007. I have seen a lighter version too, same purples and greens but in lighter shades. The co-ordinates I've used are all moda marbles.

I fell in love with that fabric and the colours in it, so bought a metre (just over a yard). But my quilt teacher at the time was horrified and said it was far too dark to use and any quilt made with it would be too dark. That was at the beginning of my quilting days and I thought I'd made a terrible mistake, so I pretty much put it away and tried to forget about it.

But every time I saw it my head fair near exploded with the possibilities, and when pittsburghpam posted her Broken Star made with no diamonds (this pattern) I knew exactly what I was going to use it for.

My evil side can't wait to show that quilt teacher the finished quilt, because I *KNOW* this looks good. :-)

I wonder if I can still get some. I'll have to check.
