Project from Craftsy Class

1 Attachment(s)
This is part of the project from a Craftsy class called, "Beyond Basic Machine Quilting" by Ann Petersen. I was so eager to start this project (and had no confidence to make a presentable rendition) that I just grabbed the first bit of extra fabric and started right in. I used a thread that blended so i wouldn't be able to see my mistakes as much. As I finished a little of the class and realized i might be able to do some of the quilting, i then started adding other thread colors. This is not the whole project. i didn't do her borders. I do plan to go back and take this course in earnest and do a better job. The quilt is out of kilter as i didn't have time to block is before My granddaughter decided it was going to be a quilt for her favorite stuffed animal du jour.

Great quilting, isn't it fun?

giquilt 01-25-2013 06:49 PM

Thx for the inspiration! I am signed up also, but have not started. Good job.

Dolphyngyrl 01-25-2013 08:23 PM

paulettepoe 01-25-2013 09:43 PM

I have paid for 3 of these classes, and they dont work on my machine. Oh how I wish they did, I'd be doing this now. It is so neat. You are doing so well for beginner, not sure mine would look like that. Good Luck, keep up the great work, girly!!

SheriR 01-26-2013 12:36 AM

So cute. Nice work! I especially like the dragonfly!

azwendyg 01-26-2013 02:10 AM

What a fun looking project! And what could be more perfect than having your granddaughter fall in love with it. I can't wait to see more of your work!

katier825 01-26-2013 03:07 AM

Don't hesitate to contact them, they will help you try different things to make them work. They worked better for me using Google Chrome as the browser. They will also refund you if you aren't satisfied.

Looks great! I think so many people would really enjoy it, but their biggest hurdle is to just try it!

debcavan 01-26-2013 03:47 AM

It looks like you were having fun. I love the whimsical flowers. It is cool how you made the one with the spiral

OmaForFour 01-26-2013 04:58 AM

WOW! I am going to take those classes! You did a fabulous job! I need to start with the basic one first though.

Diane007 01-26-2013 05:08 AM

wow what a good way to learn to do feathers

luana 01-26-2013 05:49 AM

This class, and the instructor, are great. I did not complete the full project. I practiced each new skill on a separate scrap. She gives so many options, you are sure to find one that works for you. Your project looks great.

BizzieLizzie 01-26-2013 06:10 AM

That is really good! Well done! You won't be having any more issues with machine quilting after this! :)

Homemother 01-26-2013 06:46 AM

You sound like me. I did an entire king sized quilt using matching thread on top! I am so proud of you for branching out into different colors of thread! This is so exciting. Now your options are limitless! Continue the fab quilting and I hope to see more beautiful quilting from you! (BTW I'm from PA too and had to look up your town because I had never heard of it before.)

gabeway 01-26-2013 06:47 AM

Great job!

Angellight 01-26-2013 07:04 AM

I have had the pleasure of taking a couple of classes from Ann at a now closed local quilt store.
She is a great teacher in class, and an award winning quilter.
I wish I had taken a couple more of her FMQ classes when they were still open.
Happy quilting.
Susan

Looks great. I really have enjoyed the Craftsy classes so far.

UllaBee 01-26-2013 12:46 PM

Ooooh, great job! I have been considering some of their quilting classes, I hope I will do as well as you. ;)

hperttula123 01-26-2013 01:18 PM

Love it!!!

javin22 01-26-2013 01:21 PM

Nice stitching. Looks difficult.

appliquequiltdesigns 01-26-2013 02:23 PM

I am a hand quilter and would like to learn how to machine quilt. Would this class be a good one for a beginner?

GagaSmith 01-26-2013 03:05 PM

Very well done.

Jingle 01-26-2013 07:26 PM

Very nice.

I signed up for this one to learn machine quilting http://www.craftsy.com/class/Machine...Motion-More/37 and I really learned a lot. Then I signed up for http://www.craftsy.com/class/Quiltin...all-Machine/51 and I think between those two classes and Leah Day's website (which is free and you should check it out if you have not done so) you can learn to quilt anything!

ccthomas 01-27-2013 05:57 AM

Very impressive. Nice job!

When I first started the Craftsy classes they played great--not long ago I signed up for another one and it played horribly. I run Windows XP and Craftsy kept saying get the newest Internet Explorer--well, it doesn't install with XP and I did install Google Chrome which helps. Some people say Firefox works for them.

Brenda M 01-27-2013 09:18 AM

Well done, I have also signed up for this and "watched" the videos while piecing another quilt top! Look forward to staring it soon!

Annz 01-27-2013 09:20 AM

That is very interesting. Good job.

QUILTNMO 01-27-2013 09:52 AM

fangman 01-27-2013 10:12 AM

I think it's just great, good job.

cuppi duke 01-27-2013 10:37 AM

Boy that would make a pretty whole cloth quilt. You did wonderfully.

Of the two classes on Craftsy which would you recommend first?

bibi 01-27-2013 11:06 AM

Looks very lovely but also very complicated.

Here is the one I made from this class. You can see the difference in choosing the right thread. I used variegated thread and a lot of mine faded into the background.

Yours looks so nice with the colored thread showing.

It is a fun class and if you are interested in fmq I suggest you get this class the teacher is great and explains things very well.

Firefox is the best for me to view on. I just had my computer in for repair and the tech thinks that the company has so many people using the website that the problem is on their end. Sometimes it works fine and others I just give up. Try firefox it is the best.
