Is this a Psychedelic Baby Quilt?

This is a baby quilt for my oldest daughter's new baby girl to be born in Sept. The pattern is a slight variance of the getaway small quilt from the book another Bite of Schnibbles by Carrie Nelson. My middle daughter helped me make it and picked the pattern when we were at the Quilt Show Road to California last January. The froggy fabric used for backing was bought of this board. Hobbs 80/20 cotton batting was used for the batting. My husband designed and drew the quilt lines on and I quilted it on my Janome 6500. My daughter and husband had a baby shower given for them and we pressented the quilt. They loved it. Some of the other guest did think it was phsycodelic. What do you think?

Have a Blessed night Ellen |
Great quilt. Maybe they thought it was psychedelic because of the swirls quilted in the red.
|
Just love it and so will baby but then I'm not a pastel kinda girl!
|
No, they said because of the colors. Hmmm maybe the swirls in the red do add that touch also.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Psychodelic? Maybe..... I think its a fabulous baby quilt myself. Big bright shapes to keep little eyes fascinated is the trick to a lovey that just won't quit. Good for you ! and the lucky baby.

Babies dig lots of colors and so do I, I love it!!

Not only is it nice, but there is lots for a baby to look at. It would be good for "tummy time"!
|
I absolutely love it! And any pediatrician will tell you that it's important to expose new eyes to bright colours so that the eye cones develop properly. Love it love it love it!!
|
Not so-It is beautiful & bright-Just right for any baby!
|
I read the babies eyes are not great color receivers when they are born and that we all should be giving them much brighter colored objects as they are born and into early childhood. Then tone them down.
It is the parents who seemingly need the soothing colors. lol So if mom and dad are happy they will be having a colorful baby- great as she will be sharpening her eye focus at an earlier age. Also read that most baby Q's were soft colors because the materials used were the shreds of worn out older Q's so there was no color left in them. So go for the color I say!!!! |
that will surely delight the baby's eyes, all those bright colors.

I love your choice of bright colors and the baby will too! i had an opportunity to make a quilt for a baby with heritage from India. I wrestled with "is this okay" but the parents loved it. Here is a picture. I modified it before finished to include white horizontal strips too but don't have a picture.

This is what parents-to-be are attracted to. Pretty much gone are the days of nursery prints and soft pastels for baby quilts. It's a wonderful quilt.
|
Well how fun is that quilt :o) love it!!!
|
What's not to love! ............
