Fabulous! Great design, beautiful quilt. Who wouldn't like this one!!

Those are some pretty fancy purple squares... gorgeous quilt! And you have some awesome design skills! Your story is so touching and this is a beautiful thing you did Sue! I hope your Aunt receives it too.
Lovely quilt.
That's gorgeous!!! I may have to by EQ! How much fun to design and know that it will turn out beautiful! I love your design and choice of colors.
Tears, you're making me cry. She will treasure it and definately become a handed down "Family" heirloom. You must take picture of her reaction (if possible) when you deliver it to her. That will be a true 'kodak' moment.
I absoluely love your design. Many layers to it and the purple is gorgeous. Hope you are able to find out how she likes it.
I love your design! I Hope she gets it also as that is really nice.
How pretty, and what a nice gift. Saying prayers that it reaches her.
Love your design! Would you share he pattern?

What an absolute gorgeous quilt, and a great story. I read how you made the quilt, but can't quite wrap my head around it to make it. Would you be willing to do a tutorial on it. It is simply amazing. Thanks for sharing!!
Absolutely stunning. Because of your choice of fabrics and "values", the illusion of depth is amazing
That is stunning...you did an excellent job! So good to hear your family has re-connected!
Blessings, MaryAnna |
Wowsers! How did I miss this post before?!?! this is just Stunning! May be a simple design from EQ but your placement of color and value made this a drop dead gorgeous quilt. I love the depth it has. Great job. I just realized I have a couple of your "simple" designs bookmarked for me to try. LOL

It's lovely. What a tribute to your long-lost aunt. Isn't Skype a blessing?
What a Beautiful quilt. I hope she gets it, too. Please let us know!
Beautiful quilt with a beautiful story!!
Beautiful! I love the echo of the light and dark, it gives it great movement!
Wow--what a neat effect you created! Bravo! Hope it arrives to her safe and sound.
Woody--I peeked at your directions because I was curious if you used half square triangles. You mentioned using light and dark centers, but I only see dark ones. In the photo it looks like all the log cabin halves are the same? Or is my screen color goofy? lol Will you let us know when she gets this beauty in her hands--or around her shoulders? |
That is a very attractive quilt with fine quilting.

OOOPS sorry about that, I had 2 versions of the quilt on EQ and looked at the one I didn't make, SORRY. It could be made either way, I just prefered it with the darker centres on the log cabin blocks. Sorry for the confusion. Here's is the other version, sorry about the different purple colour, I didn't scan in my fabrics, just used the generic EQ ones. |
That is beautiful! Even better is found family!!
Oh gosh--never be sorry for sharing a pattern with us. And I 100% agree with you that the all dark centers is better--adds to the pop effect. It's neat that EQ had fabric so close to what you had; it looks like you scanned them! Thanks!

I made this quilt for a recently discovered Aunt that lives in Montenegro.
(Dad had lost contact with his sister after he left the former Yugoslavia in the 1950's, her son found my brother on Facebook and now they have regular contact. They saw each other for the first time in more than 50 years on Christmas day, thanks to Skype.). I found out from her son that her favourite colour is purple so I came up with a pretty simple design in EQ. I sure hope she gets it as mail theft is common over there according to my Cousin.
