LOVE THE COLORS IN THE RAINBOW STAR QUILT, VERY PRETTY, THE BLACK MAKES IT REALLY JUMP OUT

Wow! Those are grand! I love the bright colors. I usually wear mild colors because I don't want to stand out, but I love bright bold colors in my quilts and afghans. My husband teases me that the babies will need to wear sunglasses with the quilts I make.
|
awesome quilts!

Wow Wow Wow!!! All are absolutely gorgeous!!

WOW! You could see those brights from space! Gorgeous quilts!

Just wonderful! I love all three of them and your color choices are fabulous. You've got the gift, girl. I hope you're hooked after a year because we want to see more of them!

Wow, very exquisite!

I've been DYING to make one of the Embers quilts but I can't find the exact Gelatto it calls for and I'm too thick to figure out how to do it with another fabric.
You did a lovely job on all. |

I got the pattern and fabric from dakotacabinquilts.com in April. When I went back to the site just then, I found the pattern but not the fabric. But I did see it at at http://www.canbyquilts.com/kits.html. It takes five yards of that gradient fabric and there were 13 pages of directions! It has to be cut so precisely, I really didn't know if I could do it -- plus mitered borders! Sure went to school on that one. When the stuff came in, my DGS was so happy. He asked it it would be ready the next day.  |
Thanks, Jan. I bought the pattern a long time ago and it just sat in my folder forever. Then I had a male friend I thought it would be perfect for and that's when I struck out. Because the cutting instructions are so tricky I didn't want to try using a different gellato. Plus it would change the look anyway. I even emailed the pattern designer ( can't remember her name) and could get no help.
Yours is terrific and proof that I'll want to keep on looking. The other quilts are amazing too. I love using black with brights. |
beautiful quilts, thanks for sharing with all of us, great job!
|
All are stunning - the Bed's on Fire is wonderful!
|
Beautiful quilts and Joe's bed is really on fire! Love it.

My 12-year old DGD picked out the Carpenter Star and the backing -- I call it "Meandering Ameoba" because that's what the variegated thread looks like on the black. My 13-year old DGS picked out the Embers gradient pattern -- he said, "Mimi, it will make my bed look like it's on fire!" That's for sure! So I named it "Bed's on Fire." (I made the back dark in case he needs to calm down.) The Amish-looking on-point one is for my 16-year old DGS -- hope it looks sufficiently Goth. Since I managed to cut the tips off the top "mountains," I'm calling it "Pointless." I still have the binding handwork to finish -- and a drive from Little Rock to Philadelphia next week. Eeek! |
Gorgeous, I love them all, and the last one definately is NOT pointless lol
