My Husband and I love to do puzzles! We have a old square wood coffee table we like for "Puzzling" however the puzzle pieces always ended up on the floor! We separated pieces onto cookie trays and would pass them back and forth! In the end there would always be a couple pieces missing and we would be on our hands and knees with flashlights looking for those pieces that would complete our masterpiece! I told him it would be great to have a board with drawers to hold all the pieces and a nice flat top! He said I can do that and he went to work and made it just like that! He custom fit it to that coffee table, and it can be removed if we need it for something else! Brilliant!

That is so clever. No more lost pieces. I bet he could sell those.

feline fanatic 12-26-2010 09:35 AM

Very clever. I also like how he put the lip around the edge to help keep those pieces on the board and off the floor. I like to do puzzles too but haven't done one in years.

raptureready 12-26-2010 09:36 AM

He should market these! I bought one of those felt mats years ago, used it once and threw it away. It was horrible! Couldn't move the pieces at all. This is really cool.

KathyAire 12-26-2010 09:36 AM

Very nice and clever. He sure is handy to have around, isn't he?
I agree, he should market the puzzle board with drawers.

Cyn 12-26-2010 09:39 AM

Very smart!

mrspete 12-26-2010 09:39 AM

My Mom comes to visit for 6 weeks in the late winter and again in the late summer. While I sew and quilt she works on puzzles in my sewing room. I would love to have one of those tables or the plans so my DH could build one for us. Our cat thinks that puzzle pieces a just the best tasting treats, so we have to keep it covered while we are away from it. If your DH would draw out the plans I would be 1st in line to purchase.

Maggie_Sue 12-26-2010 10:15 AM

What a creative idea!!! Definitely marketable>

Janie Q 12-26-2010 10:19 AM

Really neat idea! I bet alot of people would buy one! What a talented husband!

Gatormom3 12-26-2010 10:26 AM

What a great idea!

Tsanchez 12-26-2010 10:30 AM

Wow, that is really nice. I made a very easy one that I used when I was doing puzzles. Mine was just a board with trip nailed all the way around so that the pieces wouldn't fall off and I could move it to where ever I wanted to put the puzzle together. I love yours so much better.

suezquilts 12-26-2010 10:35 AM

I am sure he could market this idea!

nance-ell 12-26-2010 10:39 AM

That's fantastic! My mother used to buy a puzzle every year at Christmas and we would all gather around the coffee table to work the puzzle. Same as you, we'd find ourselves searching everywhere for those last pieces that had fallen to the floor unnoticed. Thanks for the memory!

dellareya 12-26-2010 11:20 AM

Hats off to your clever husband. This is a great idea.

GrammaBabs 12-26-2010 12:36 PM

he is indeed clever and does beautiful work.... perhaps a patent is in the works.... i'm going to show my DH.. and hope that someday he makes something like this.. i love puzzles, but do not do them because of the "reasons" you've made this remarckable piece..........

Lady Tapioca 12-26-2010 12:36 PM

What a great idea! I used to do puzzles, but the cat thinks
it is great fun to push the pieces toward the edge and watch them fall to the floor!
Your puzzle board would surely put an end to that!

SueDor 12-26-2010 01:36 PM

What a great idea!

mmonohon 12-26-2010 01:39 PM

What a great idea. He should patent it fast!

IrishNY 12-26-2010 03:03 PM

I'd buy one. I love to do puzzles and it would be such a luxury to be able to put it away while in progress if I want to.

Damsel in DisDress 12-26-2010 03:55 PM

Thanks Everyone for all the wonderful feedback! I am very lucky to have a talented husband! He did in fact custom make this specifically for our table, however you can buy some puzzle table tops at "Bits and Pieces" on-line. They have a few different sizes, very reasonably priced. There shipping is not bad either. I actually purchased one for my Mom to set on her card table. Check out the site, they have some great puzzles too! Thanks again for all your kind words!

If he changes his mind and you guys decide to make and sell, let us know. I'd love to buy one for my mil. She does puzzles on a spare bed and would appreciate something like this.

Damsel in DisDress 12-26-2010 04:05 PM

OK! He kind of Made this off the cuff with no plans! Kind of how I quilt! I will let you know if he starts making them.

mom2suki 12-26-2010 05:01 PM
