I hope this doesn't sound ignorant but to all of you experience quilters....when sewing togeter long strips do you pin or finger pin as you go along?
Just wondering
TIA,
Katt

I don't pin once I get into a groove I don't want to stop. But that is me others might do it differently

I usually pin, mainly because I want my corners to match up.

If they are really long I will pin because they never come out straight finger pinning them. For shorter strips, finger pinning works just fine for me.

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

I iron the two together (right sides facing), the heat holds them together well.

I never have much luck keeping things together so I pin every so often, just to keep from ending up with two different lengths, especially over long distances!

This is what I do, and it seems to work well for me.

I pin for longer pieces.....ripping out is the pits.....lol

Short strips no pins, long strips definetely pins. Also, just read a Thimbleberries book on patterns and they suggest long strips be ironed across the SHORT part of your ironing board as ironing them the long way will get you into the "rainbow" affect with the strip (warped). Never occurred to me that was part of my long strip issue.

I can't cut a straight line let alone sew one!
