I'm making a blue and white quilt in a sorta like BOM style. I used different all blue fabrics and different WOW as needed. I started a few blocks when I first started quilting 10 years ago. Then in a couple of years I became the BOM person for our guild. Each month I would make a sample block for the guild and make the same block in blue and white for me. Then I joined the QB and got on the block swap. Did the same thing. Made a block for my partner then same pattern in blue and white for me. Right now I have 29 done and need 4 more! Here's a couple of my favorites.

Both blocks are very cool. With so many scraps to use, I may borrow these ideas. It's funny how I never get tired of using up my scraps, no matter how many times I've used the fabic before and in my mind I always remember how and where I got the fabric and what projects I used it in.:D

Well, here is one I made for the club quilt this year. We were given the batik in the star and told the block had to have a star in it. I believe this is "Chris's Star" from quilters cache.

Love them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am working on the same granny square pattern!!! Love it

Here's a few of my favorite blocks I made for the BOM swap here on the board.
The first one is about where I grew up: Carmel, California. The picture on top right is the famous Lone Cyprus on the Seventeen-Mile-Drive where Pebble Beach is. The one that is middle left is about the Sand Castle contests they had on Carmel Beach. The picture on the bottom left is California's First Theater in Monterey, California. Monterey was the first capital of California. While I lived there, they still performed old-style melodramas, along with hissing and booing from the audience. I love this pig block so much that I am making one for me. Ditto on the Carmel block. I love turquoise and it was fun to make this block. I just love the way it turned out. The next one is a beauty. I bought the stripey fabric on a whim because it was so colorful. It was in with the halloween fabric. It was perfect when someone request orange in their block. The last one was for someone who was collecting turtle blocks. I found this turtle in an old 60's coloring book that I have from when I was a child. My husband drew the face. He's the artist in the family. |
Awesome blocks!! I love them all, so pretty and colorful!

I thought it would be good to have a topic for people to post pics of just quilt blocks. I've seen topics about completed quilts, but had not seen any for those wanting to post pics of just one block.
I made this one from the pattern found here: http://quilting.about.com/od/blockof...ck-Pattern.htm Finished size is 12" x 12". |

Okay, I'll play. Just finished a VERY PURPLE-Y Warm Wishes (lap sized) top, this evening. It was already on the cutting table, so decided to just throw the random blocks, on top of it. They aren't nearly as fancy as some of the others, I've seen . . . but at least y'all can see I actually do sew and not spend ALL of my time, reading the QB! :D

I have a number of blocks that I am especially fond of. The first is a Dresden variation that I designed (PPing). the outer edges are prairie points. I intend to make a whole quilt, but right now it is a UFO. The second is an applique block which I made as part of my granddaughter's wedding quilt. (she is 11, so there was no rush to complete this one.) The friendship star is a one block donation quilt made with scrappy squares. The last is one I call Pharoh's Phan. I saw this block in an antique quilt photo a friend took and played with the pattern until I liked it, but not enough to make a large quilt, so it became a wall hanging.

I relate to your salutation...I get by the bathroom light switch and cant remember if I needed to turn it on and go in, or am ready tp shut the door and leave. haha. love your block.
|
I dont quite ubderstand the phraze, "He's the artist in the family", it looks to me as though you are a beautiful quilt artist. Accept your creativity and bask in it. My favorite block is the turtle.
|
I will remember to follow my heart and take my brain with me. To cute. Love your very purple quilt.
|
No picture, but your salutation is priceless. It seems that tonight I have enjoyed a lot of salutations even more than the blocks. Well, not really better, but close.
