I really enjoyed making this quilt.

The pattern is Merlin's Magic from the Quilts of Camelot book by Jason Yenter. The fabric is "In The Beginning Fabrics."

I bought this as a kit online from Hancocks of Paducah, http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/Item...CA-MERLIN-BLUE They also sell a red version of the quilt.

This is the first time I tried taking a quilt picture outside. Our pond is nicest at this time of year.

Your quilt is beautiful!! You did a very nice job on it, I wish that we had a pond. My son, dug one in his yard, but it's a lot of work to maintain.

Elise, your quilt is so beautiful. I really love Jason Yenters Camelot collection...he designs some very pretty fabric.

Your quilt is wonderful, and boy would I like to have that pond with all the flowers in my backyard.

Cheshirepat 07-01-2011 10:37 AM

OOOOOhhh!!! The Merlin quilt!! I've had my eye on the Camelot fabrics and this one in particular...it's gorgeous, as is your pond!

Questions for you - please?

Did you like the kit you got from Hancock's? I bought their Oceanica (red) kit which I'm saving for when my skills are more up to it...it's *killing* me to look at the fabric just sitting there...lol.

Is the Merlin quilt beyond a Beginner quilter? I'd love to get something of the Camelot set before they start to disappear.

Thanks in advance,
Pat

I was very pleased with the kit. It came with the pattern book and exactly the fabrics the pattern required. I have quite a bit of left over fabric. I received the kit in the mail in less than a week.

I began quilting about a year and a half ago. I had no trouble doing this quilt, (it's not perfect but any means). It was my first time cutting from templates, (there are 4). And it takes some concentration to fussy cut the center triangles. But the quilt is small, 46" square, so it was not overwhelming. I would recommend it to a confident beginner.

Thanks for all the nice replies.

Elise

Wow, it's gorgeous and so is you pond and flowers.

sahm4605 07-01-2011 03:48 PM

I am thinking of buying the quilt for a baby blanket for a new mommy. She is going to do the nursery in teal green and orange. strange colors to do for a girl but they are trying to go neutral.I am going to make a second blanket in girly colors for the baby to have as her own. I am going to help the mom make up the curtains and bedding for the crib.

do you think you would have been able to make it crib size?
