Quilt for a friend starting chemo

2 Attachment(s)
One of my good friends was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago with breast cancer. She has had one breast removed and started chemo last week. I just finished making her this quilt and will deliver it tomorrow. She is a real bookaholic, so I hope it pleases her.

It is sort of a surprise, in that I didn't tell her I was making one, but I did email her yesterday that I had made her one. We agreed on a "delivery time" and I hope she likes it.

Thanks for looking.

Dina

Love the quilt and the inspector. How thoughtful of you. I hope things go well with your friend and your gift gives her comfort while she fights her battle.

What a wonderful gift. Cancer treatments take so much out of a person and to have a wonderful and beautiful quilt to snuggle into is such a comfort. It is a lovely quilt and you are a very good friend. Best wishes for your friend.

It's a wonderful quilt and you are a wonderful friend. I wish her well.

barny 11-05-2017 05:32 PM

I was in a Cancer Clinic 2 weeks ago and people having Chemo or anything else will love to have a quilt. They are always cold and it's always cold in the Clinic. People working in there work so hard, they need the coolness. You are doing a good thing to give her a quilt. She will use it.

sewbizgirl 11-05-2017 05:49 PM

Beautiful quilt! How about a good book to go with it? I'm sure your friend will love your gift!

quiltingshorttimer 11-05-2017 06:14 PM

so very caring and I love the book fabric. I just started a similar quilt for a friend for the same reason.

illinois 11-06-2017 04:00 AM

What a great quilt! It only attests to her love of reading. (I am reluctant to comment, but did you notice that one of the 4 patches is turned the opposite way? Is that intentional?)

Homespun 11-06-2017 04:47 AM

Great job!

lindaschipper 11-06-2017 05:02 AM

Great idea using the book fabric as she is an avid reader. So nice to have a quilt she can enjoy forever from a loving friend.. Many women receive a pink cancer ribbon quilt and I've never understood why they would want a quilt that screams "I've got breast cancer" in their face. Sorry everyone...just my personal opinion.

IceLeopard 11-06-2017 05:33 AM

Yes to Needing something warm while going through chemo. My sister knitted me an afghan of the softest, thickest yarn she could find, when I was doing it.

jmoore 11-06-2017 05:53 AM

Such a thoughtful gift...I pray her surgery and treatment are successful.

jeanb 11-06-2017 07:19 AM

JuneBillie 11-06-2017 07:28 AM

That quilt is so pretty, and they will love it. It's so appropriate for a reader.

Well, bummer! No, I didn't do it on purpose and I didn't notice it. I just delivered the quilt, and my friend loved it. I will have to look at the picture again to see the mistake. Sure wish I'd noticed it in time to fix it! :)

Beautiful quilt and it will be appreciated gift. I had a friend several years ago who had breast cancer and made her a pink teddy bear that she took to every chemo treatment. Just the thought of caring and love from another is a medicine for the soul. You are a true friend.

salederer 11-06-2017 07:49 AM

Really pretty quilt! Your friend should love it.

KARENBOUTQUILTIN 11-06-2017 08:03 AM

What a wonderful caring friend you are to her. Prayers for her quick recovery and warmth of the quilt.

She is going to love it. You did a great job.

madamekelly 11-06-2017 02:40 PM

If you have any scraps left, a matching small pillow would be wonderful. (They make them small rectangles for comfort while healing from the surgery.)

ccthomas 11-06-2017 06:24 PM

Nice quilt for a friend.
