Quilt gone missing ...

1 Attachment(s)
Mailed to a friend across the state and she still doesn't have it.

:(

Not expecting it to show, but know that knowing this group will sympathize.

ragqueen03 01-28-2012 08:50 AM

That is a beautiful quilt. Praying it shows up!

crafty pat 01-28-2012 08:55 AM

How awful for you. I hate to ship things for that very reason. Here they drop it on the porch and sometimes don't even ring the bell. Anyone passing by can see it and walk away with it. That is how one of my grandsons first birthday packages ended up. I hope you find your quilt.

athomenow 01-28-2012 09:00 AM

Did you put ins and a tracking number on it. That's the only way I would ever send anything. At least you can recoup your money if it can't be found.

Grandma Bonnie 01-28-2012 09:18 AM

It's a beautiful quilt - I sure hope it turns up!

ckcowl 01-28-2012 09:29 AM

i hope you insured it and put delivery confirmation on it! you should be able to track it down.
i send quilts all over the country- and have been lucky- but i have always insisted on the added expense of insurance- it is well worth a couple extra bucks to be able to track it.

Tink's Mom 01-28-2012 09:30 AM

what a shame...it is such a lovely quilt.

Jessie 2 01-28-2012 09:49 AM

I am so sorry that happened, I send quilts to my daughters in other stated and am worried to death until they got them,
I sure hope they find beautiful quilt.
Jessie

Feeling badly about your quilt. I hope it may still show up. It is beautiful.

dcquilter 01-28-2012 10:25 AM

What a lovely quilt. I too will pray that it turns up.

Dolphyngyrl 01-28-2012 10:36 AM

Contact the postal office there they probably have it and can't find it, I think a person on here had the same problem and it took a few months for them to find her quilt, don't give up, be persistent with the post office. Track it to the last post office that handled the package and go from there. i hope you find it, it is a very pretty quilt.

joyce blint 01-28-2012 10:44 AM

It's a beautiful quilt, don't give up hope!

SWEETPEACHES 01-28-2012 10:47 AM

When did you mail it? Did you put a return address label on it?

ksdot417 01-28-2012 10:50 AM

After the post office lost a box of books that I was sending to my daughter and it taking 11 months to get them to pay the insurance claim (even though they sent me a notice w/my shipping label that they were lost) I won't send packages with them anymore. Their tracking system didn't work as it only showed my package living the post office it was sent from and then just dropped off the face of the earth. At least UPS and FedEx have tracking systems that seem to work. I'm really sorry for your quilt and hope that it turns up.

beatys9 01-28-2012 10:52 AM

It's a lovely quilt - Hope it turns up.

quiltinggirl 01-28-2012 10:54 AM

I feel your pain and will pray that the quilt arrives to its designation soon! I've noticed that even with just regular mail it is so slow these days. Hopefully this is the case with this beautiful quilt!!

ljfox 01-28-2012 10:58 AM

Hopefully you put Delivery confirmation or Insurance on it so it can be tracked. The post office can track it more completely than you can online. If there is no tracking or it isn't helpful, then ask them to send an inquiry to the MRC (mail recovery center). They have to do it for you. You will need to give them as much information as you can about the item. They can even attach a photo of it to the inquiry. If they give you a hard time about filing the inquiry, tell them you know a postmaster (me!) and that is what she told you to do.

blueangel 01-28-2012 11:18 AM

Oh I hope it shows up.

BLAP 01-28-2012 12:49 PM

Love the quilt. Sad that it did not arrive. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

lfstamper 01-28-2012 12:55 PM

Total bummer. Hope it returns to you or her!

CircleSquare 01-28-2012 12:57 PM

A friend of mine sent a quilt to her grandson across the country and it didn't show up for 6 weeks, and they all thought it was lost, but it DID finally arrive at its destination!!

rootyr 01-28-2012 01:07 PM

It saddens me!

Maria C 01-28-2012 01:10 PM

That is heart breaking for you. A lovely quilt. Good to post it here as you never know. Someone may come across it.

mcar 01-28-2012 01:36 PM

I had delivery confirmation but my quilt sent to Momence, IL went to Hawaii. Never for got that missing. I went into the main office customer service....they pretended to call Hawaii, am sure the empty box was sent after the gift was removed! but I cannot prove it. It was tracked....many times during its journey. no recourse.
Now I insure all packages, and use signature confirmation. I also send an e-mail or phone to make sure the package is expected.

alfosa421 01-28-2012 03:06 PM

I am so sorry to hear that. I hope it turns up and the dirty stinker who messed with it gets the flu for a month!!!!!

Jackie Spencer 01-28-2012 03:13 PM

I live in Indiana, I sent my sister a pkg. in Oregon, It went all the way to Alaska before it came back to her. I had ins. and tracking. The post office said someone just looked at the zip code wrong!

Tweety2911 01-28-2012 03:17 PM

Beautiful quilt and I will add my prayers to the others that it shows up! Hopefully it will arrive on Monday!

Berkie 01-28-2012 03:27 PM

That stinks, I do hope that you get it back but be aware too, that when you insure something through the postal service you must have a receipt for the item. If you feel your quilt was worth $1000 (just tossing a number in) and insured it for $1000 you will need a receipt for $1000 (that you either bought it or sold it) not a receipt from the local fabric store for 50 bucks, claiming that your time was the other $950, they will simply deny your claim.
The only way to go is priority (3 day) & be sure the receiving party is aware it is on it's way so IF the package does not arrive in that 3 days, they can start tracking it right away. They usually tell you the day & before or after 12:00, with delivery confirmation meaning SOMEONE has to sign for it or the package will not be left at your door.

DeniseB 01-28-2012 03:29 PM

I feel so bad for you, sure hope it shows up. But insuring and delivery confirmation/tracking will help next time.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

s.a.bowman 01-28-2012 04:11 PM

I'm also hoping and praying it shows up.......what a beautiful quilt!!

Nettie Phillips 01-28-2012 04:16 PM

Oh, that is sooo pretty.

bubble951 01-28-2012 06:06 PM

I've had things lost for serveral weeks, but once I went to the post office and complained, it showed up in 2 days! If you didn't buy insurance (and I didn't) may sure to still fill out a complain. I'll follow your post to see if it shows up.

frugalfabrics 01-28-2012 06:36 PM

I'm sorry to hear this has happened. Did it by chance get mailed thru an area that had storms lately (tornadoes or snow storms)...maybe it's just been delayed or diverted. Adding my prayers in that it shows up safely and in good order.
