Quilt for Hubby
1 Attachment(s)
Inspired by the amazing Amish quilts I have seen online, I made this one for my husband's birthday 2 years ago. I call it "Don't Ask Me What I Am Thinking" dedicated to all those who's significant others who ask what you are thinking about, but then get that glazed over look in their eyes when you actually tell them. Why are they SO SURE you are thinking about THEM? LOL. I am thinking about what to make for dinner Saturday, what I need to pick up at the store, what pattern I might dive into next, I wonder where my Stitch Wichery went, etc...
This is a paper pieced quilt. It took me several tries to figure out HOW to piece. I was scooting around yard sales (sure I am a yard sale junkie) when I ran across a Fons and Porter "Love of Quilting" magazine with a Mariner's Compass quilt and researched further (gotta love the net) to find the New York Beauty pattern and instructions on how to paper piece. |
WOW - fabulous quilt!!! And welcome to the QB - hope to see more of your wonderful work.
|
Gob-smacked. Wow! Penny for your thoughts? (grin) That is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you.

First of all, welcome to the board! Secondly, this quilt is absolutely stunning! Your DH is one lucky guy! As for the name, I saw a cartoon once of a couple sitting at a restaurant table. The wife says to the husband "What are you thinking about, honey?" & he says "I'm thinking about ordering the chicken"... LOL! What I'm thinking about your quilt is WOW!!!!!
|

Lovely quilt. Thanks for sharing.

It's beautiful! Great job. Is it your first pp work? If so, I'm amazed. I'll bet you are an overachiever, huh? Always go for the huge projects when most people tackle simple first? I mean, I'd never even attempt such a large project if I'd never even pp'd before.
