that's so amazing! i love the way the pieces came out. he picked some really great colors and fabrics! great job to both of you! :) and i love that you used wool batting. i can't wait to make my first quilt with that. i'm a novice, and i haven't yet had the privilege to use wool. but i love it in everything else! :) anyway, point is you did a really fabulous job. it's lovely (in the manliest sort of way)! :)

Thanks for the nice comments. I wish I had taken a closeup picture of the fabrics. The brown is a moose print and the blue has trees and water, both in a watercolor style, muted and gorgeous. The red center square is a slightly striated fabric that reminds me of the red rocks of southern Utah, one of our favorite places. I think this quilt is an example that "manly" quilts are more a manner of appropriate selection of fabrics than the quilt pattern itself.

More details: The specific fabrics in the line are "earth" (the brown with the moose) and "lake" (the blue with water and trees).
